my eclipse is running at really high rpms im talking like 4000 to 5000 rpms and when I press the gas its like im running out of gas and it sucks air and gasps and starts poping under the hood what could be my problem

I am guessing by now you have gotten it fixed. For the next person...Check to make sure the throttle plate is not stuck.
