Sonata

Asked by Nadine Oct 31, 2017 at 12:43 PM about the 2012 Hyundai Sonata

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 sonata that had a recall that I was
unaware of until it was too late and my engine blew.
I go to pick it up and the ac doesn’t work and my
engine light was on. Apparently my transmission
temperature sensor is out and my ac compressor
had an internal malfunction. Could either of those
be caused my engine over heating?

Maybe they left a electrical connection undone or loose to the sensor, keeping the light on, its possible, since it was just worked on. The a/c did have to come off the engine, I think it is possible to damage it or leave (again) a connection undone, if its the internal pump itself and it worked before, the only thing I can think of (since I have seen it happen before) is it got dropped on the concrete or allowed to get dirt/grime in system or pump. Either way if it all was working before & did not work right after the work done, could be directly connected in some way, some may not agree, in this case I agree to not agree for reasons stated. But the engine blowing did not cause it per-say, I would need to know exactly the circumstance why and what happened there. If it is for a fact on re-call for this and the engine blew and also facilitated the other problems then it should be covered too. I would have them re-check it and make sure there is no other reason(s) for those items not working even if they did check it. Because those issues were not present beforehand. May just need to Politely press them on this again. They are not in the business to lose money. May not have really checked hard enough or tried to find a big money item to replace on the dime of the money hungry dealership owner and take a chance of getting fired and yes fired for doing good work. Dealerships/car sellers with shops are up-sellers and service is out the window. I saw and see it/hear it with my own eyes & ears from the shop side and this trend is happening. Even if they know for sure its their fault (not saying it is) it is their job to write that work up for a new work order and place it on a car owner for paying for it. It is very hard to get them to do the right thing. Those workers face being fired for not doing so. Like I said before this is for sure happening. If any others ever reading this says other-wise, I urge you/them to go to work at a dealership today! Mark it down and go see it for yourself.
