2000 durango won't come out of bulldog. friend broke the shifter. can i disconnect it so i can drive my car again.

the shifter on the floor is broke off.  it flips back and forth.  it moves slowly.  can't drive it anywhere.  is there anyway i can disable it so i still have a car.?   HELP   it has the big engine.  very powerful.   can't even push it, it is so heavy..

2000 dodge durango stuck in 4 wheel drive low. floor shifter flips back and forth. Someone told me to disconnect the drive shaft to the 4 wheel drive and it should be ok. Is that true? Or am I in big trouble. ?
