How do I get my 2000 dodge durango slt out of 4 low locked?

Asked by Jessica Feb 24, 2014 at 08:46 PM about the 2000 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently bought a 2000 Durango and it is stuck in 4 low locked. The person we bought it from drove it on a daily basis and didn't know it was in 4 low cause the light never came on. The front end is now knocking and acting up. ABS light and check engine light is on.

Your truck´s tranny must be in neutral and if it is stiff you can try to rock the truck back and forth to loose the tension. If the lever is very loose you might have a broken connection from the lever to the T-case. The truck must not be driven on paved or concrete roads in 4WD low or high only on loose ground like gravel, mud or snow. Hope your front or rear dif is ok and the T-case.
