My 2000 Dodge Durango is stuck in 4 low. I forced the lever back without being in Neuatral. I feel no connection at all now. What should I do? With my car stuck in 2 low I am pretty much car less.

Hello! I have a 2000 Dodge Durango and this evening I tried to put my Durango in 4 wheel high. When I pulled the lever back it had resistance like I was moving the level as in the past, but it didn't seem to lock/shift into 4 wheel drive. While driving to work I noticed the 4 wheel drive light didn't show lit up on the dash as in the past. So when I got off work I thought putting it into low and then back up it would help. Well I got it into low and it won't come out of low. So with both hands I pulled it back and now the lever is free floating like there is no connection (what I call resistance, where it feels like I am actually moving something) I am stuck in 4 low. Do you have an idea? Is it just a cable that came off? Any ideas would be helpful at this point. Thanks, Margaret

You probably broke something, you have to take a look under neath you truck and have some one move the lever to see what went wrong. You must have your truck in neutral and at stand still when going to 4 low if there is tension it can be stiff and then you rock your truck back and forth in drive and reverse to loose the tension. If yo don´t use 4wd often the lever joints under your truck might need some cleaning and greasing.

hi i have a 2001 durango 4x4 stuck in 4high i tried switching to 2wd but the light flashes and light back at 4h

Maggs in Ohio. What part did you have to buy? Can you share where you bought it please have a 2000 Durango same problem. Did you install it from inside the vehicle or just right underneath?
