Reviews Summary

The redesigned 2026 Audi A6 marks the ninth generation of midsize luxury sedans from Ingolstadt, Germany. While it shares a name and some tech features with the Audi A6 e-tron introduced for the 2025 model year, the gasoline A6 is an otherwise different vehicle based on the same Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) as the A5 sedan and Q5 crossover. A redesign was certainly needed as most other midsize luxury sedans—specifically the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class—were renewed more recently, and we haven’t had a genuinely new A6 since the 2020 model year.

Verdict: On paper, the A6 looks like more of a premium product than before, but it doesn’t feel that way from behind the wheel, and the tech is a work in progress.

Reviews Summary

The 2025 Honda Civic lineup gets a big change with the debut of a new hybrid model that promises more power and significantly improved fuel economy. A slight styling refresh and new features further benefit this affordable and attractive compact car, which is still available in sedan or hatchback body styles.

Look and feel

2026 Audi A6

7/10

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid

7/10

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid underwent a subtle yet effective styling refresh, primarily focused on the front fascia. The reshaped grilles and slightly extended body section between them gave the Civic a sharper, sportier appearance compared to its predecessor. This mild update added a touch of aggression that was previously absent. The Civic maintained a balance between classic proportions and a sleek, sporty profile, especially in the hatchback hybrid version, which featured distinctive taillights. Inside, the Civic's cabin remained largely unchanged, retaining its reputation for having one of the nicest interiors in its class. The dashboard featured hidden air vents behind a mesh grille, and higher trims offered a digital instrument panel for a modern touch. Materials quality was excellent, with soft-touch surfaces in key areas and a practical herringbone texture on the centre console. However, the rear seats, while spacious, lacked air vents and charge ports, making them feel more basic.

The 2026 Audi A6, like its smaller sibling, the A5, boasted a handsome design with a lower, more pronounced "singleframe" grille. While it didn't make as bold an impression as some competitors, it struck a balance between elegance and subtlety. The A6 featured programmable LED headlights and taillights, though some symbols were confusingly similar. Available in base, Progressiv, and Technik trims, the A6 offered a sedan-only option, with the previous-generation RS 6 Avant wagon still available. The Technik trim's S Line Black package added sporty elements like a front bumper, blacked-out trim, and dark chrome wheels. Despite these enhancements, the interior materials felt disappointingly bland and cheap, even in the top-spec Technik model.

Performance

2026 Audi A6

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid

7/10

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid introduced a new hybrid powertrain, combining a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a total output of 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque. This setup replaced the previous 1.5-litre turbo engine, offering improved power and fuel efficiency. The hybrid system provided a responsive and smooth driving experience, with initial acceleration often powered by the electric motors. The transition between electric and gasoline power was seamless, and the CVT transmission remained quiet and efficient. The Civic Hybrid's suspension prioritized comfort while maintaining confident handling, making it suitable for most drivers. Active noise cancellation contributed to a quieter ride, enhancing the overall driving experience.

The 2026 Audi A6 featured a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, delivering 362 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and standard quattro all-wheel drive, the A6 offered impressive acceleration, reaching 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds. While the transmission exhibited some hesitation under heavy throttle, it provided smooth shifts at higher speeds. The A6's handling was enhanced by brake-based torque vectoring and an optional sport rear differential, which improved cornering performance. The Sport Plus package included a lower ride height and rear-axle steering for sportier handling, though it compromised ride comfort. The A6 excelled on highways, but tire noise on rough surfaces detracted from its premium feel.

Form and function

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid

8/10

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid offered spacious front seats with ample adjustments for larger drivers. Visibility was generally good, though the rearview was somewhat limited by the tall rear decklid. The cabin featured well-placed controls, including conventional climate knobs and steering wheel buttons. Storage options included a wireless charging pad, larger cup holders, and a deep centre armrest bin, though door pockets were small. Rear seats provided comfortable space for average-sized adults, with ample headroom and legroom. The sedan's trunk offered 419 litres of cargo space, with a low liftover height and remote rear seatback releases for added convenience.

The 2026 Audi A6, despite being six centimetres longer than its predecessor, didn't significantly improve passenger space. Front-seat headroom increased due to the panoramic glass roof, but rear seat headroom and legroom remained similar. The A6 offered comparable space to a BMW 5 Series, with climate controls and USB-C ports for rear passengers. Heated and ventilated front seats were standard, with an available massaging function. The trunk provided 382 litres of cargo space, slightly less than the previous generation but more than some competitors. The A6 retained a conventional trunk with split-folding rear seats for added versatility.

Technology

2026 Audi A6

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid

7/10

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid featured a standard seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top Sport Touring Hybrid trim offered a digital instrument panel, a larger nine-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, wireless smartphone integration, and a wireless charging pad. The new Google Built-in operating system, available on the top trim, enhanced voice commands and integrated online features. The infotainment system was user-friendly, with quick responses and sharp graphics, while the wireless charger securely held larger phones.

The 2026 Audi A6 introduced the Digital Stage setup, featuring an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch touchscreen. An optional 10.9-inch front-passenger touchscreen addressed the main screen's driver-oriented tilt. While the screens were larger, the MMI infotainment system's layout was oversimplified and challenging to navigate. Audi's improved voice recognition and standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto helped, but the interface remained cumbersome. An upcoming interface update promised improvements, including an integrated dashcam and a new steering wheel. The optional Bang & Olufsen 3D audio system featured headrest speakers for personalized navigation directions.

Safety

2026 Audi A6

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid

6/10

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid received top safety ratings, earning five stars from the NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS. Standard safety features included forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and more. The top Touring trim added parking proximity sensors and rain-sensing wipers. The Civic's safety systems performed reliably, with no false alarms during testing.

The 2026 Audi A6 came equipped with standard driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and more. However, the lane centring feature allowed for some lane wobble, and crash-test ratings were unavailable at the time of writing. The A6's driver monitoring system helped prevent misuse of the technology, but the sensitivity of warnings was higher than in previous models.
