2025 Porsche 911 Reviews Summary

The 2025 model year marks the beginning of the refreshed 992.2-generation Porsche 911. It brings a handful of subtle changes throughout, particularly when it comes to the face, interior, and power output. While it’s dimensionally much larger than 911s or yore, that characteristic rear-engine shape is still there as well.

Verdict: Between its thrilling performance, excellent ride, great usability, and handsome looks, it’s hard to fault the latest-generation Porsche 911 Carrera.

2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA Reviews Summary

In the past, if you’ve wanted an all-electric Mercedes-Benz sedan, you had your choice of the EQE or EQS. Not only are both these cars on the large side, but the design language is an acquired taste. They’re not ugly by any stretch of the imagination, but they’re still not the prettiest of the bunch. Oh, and they’re pricey to boot.

But for the 2027 model year, Mercedes is launching the third generation of the compact CLA with an electric powertrain. Officially called the Mercedes-Benz CLA with EQ Technology, this entry-level fastback sedan (to be joined by a gas-powered version at a later date) offers impressive range and all the tech you’ve ever wanted in a compact luxury car.

Verdict: The new Mercedes-Benz CLA is an exciting next step in the development of Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles. The base model is not the quickest car in the stable, but it provides comfortable, easy transportation.

2025 Porsche 911

10/10

2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA

8/10

The 2025 Porsche 911 showcased a subtle evolution in its design, maintaining its iconic silhouette while incorporating modern touches. The familiar rear taillight arrangement and front bumper design remained largely unchanged, but the addition of standard Matrix Design LED headlights enhanced its overall aesthetic. The aerodynamic body style was both elegant and athletic, highlighted by wide rear haunches and pronounced front fenders, which were now standard. Inside, the 911's interior was a testament to simplicity and quality, with a clean layout and high-quality materials. The Sport Chrono package added a touch of sophistication with its analog clock and leather accents, while the infotainment display seamlessly blended into the dash.

In contrast, the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA offered a more contemporary and edgy design. The CLA 250+ model, with its Sky Blue Metallic paint and brushed aluminum trim, stood out at the international launch event. The CLA's styling was more angular, moving away from the egg shape of older models, and featured a sophisticated four-door fastback style. Inside, the CLA retained some familiar design elements, such as round HVAC vents, but introduced new features like redesigned seat adjuster levers and window switches. The CLA's interior was spacious, with a 70-litre frunk and a 404-litre rear trunk, providing ample storage space.

Performance

2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA

9/10

The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera was a testament to versatility, boasting a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine that delivered 389 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This powertrain, combined with an eight-speed PDK transmission, propelled the Carrera from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 295 km/h. The car's handling was exceptional, with Porsche Active Suspension Management providing a smooth yet connected ride. The Carrera's steering was precise, and its braking system, featuring 13.7-inch rotors and multi-piston calipers, performed admirably under heavy use.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA, particularly the single-motor 250+ model, offered a different driving experience. With 268 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque, it was not as quick off the line as the Porsche, taking over 6.6 seconds to reach 96 km/h. However, the CLA excelled in comfort and efficiency, with a two-speed transmission and an 85-kWh battery providing a range of up to 673 kilometres on the WLTP cycle. The CLA's 800-volt system allowed for rapid DC fast charging, making it a practical choice for long-distance travel.

Form and function

2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA

9/10

The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera's interior was spacious for front-seat passengers, offering generous head, shoulder, and legroom. The driving position was low-slung yet comfortable, with excellent visibility. However, the rear seats were best suited for small children, and cargo space was limited to 132 litres in the front trunk. Despite these limitations, the 911's interior was well-designed and functional.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA provided a more luxurious and tech-savvy interior. Standard features included heated power front seats, a panoramic glass roof, and automatic climate control. The CLA's 70-litre frunk and 404-litre rear trunk offered ample storage space. The interior design was modern, with a focus on technology, including a virtual assistant and a new air-to-air heat pump for efficient battery pre-conditioning.

The 2025 Porsche 911 featured a fully digital 12.6-inch instrument cluster, replacing the analog gauges of previous models. While some purists may have missed the traditional dials, the new display offered clear graphics and smooth operation. The 10.9-inch infotainment screen, known as Porsche Communication Management, was user-friendly and supported wireless Apple CarPlay.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA was a technological powerhouse, featuring a 10.25-inch driver display and a 14-inch centre display running the latest MBUX infotainment system. The system supported over-the-air updates and offered features like augmented-reality navigation and wireless smartphone integration. The optional MBUX Superscreen added a 14-inch passenger display, enhancing the cabin's tech appeal.

The 2025 Porsche 911 came equipped with standard safety features such as traffic sign recognition, pedestrian protection, and automatic emergency braking. The Premium Package added adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system. While the 911 had not been rated by safety organizations, its safety features performed well in testing.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA offered a comprehensive suite of safety features, including a class-exclusive centre airbag, adaptive cruise control, and blind spot monitoring. Optional features like active steering and lane change assist enhanced the CLA's safety profile. Like the Porsche, the CLA had not been rated by safety organizations at the time of writing.
