If the Type-R is the king of FWD compact sport vehicles then the Elantra N is the charismatic opposition looking to step up to be a new contender. I owned an FK8. I believe the FL5 is a refined version of the FK8. Modern and has a QoL improvement. With that being said the EN is just better priced it reaches into the market of customers who want a Type R but don't want a Manual. I do believe that the Elantra N has a bit more character the way it cuts corners compared to the Type R, but the Type R is overall more planted and has that wider chasis.
