What owners say
"Overall, 2005 Toyota 4Runner owners appreciate its reliability, durability, and strong performance. Many drivers emphasize the vehicle's solid build and safety features, making it a great choice for families. However, some owners express dissatisfaction with its fuel economy and issues related to rust and mechanical problems."
This is the absolute best car ever. I would recommend this SUV to families, who are on the go. It's great on gas mileage. Handles well. Maintenance is reasonable. Easy to drive. Safe all around. Great for commuting or for a drive up to the mountains.
February 9, 2015The most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I've had it 2-1/2 years and it's bullet proof. The only thing it can't do is put gas in itself. You can't go wrong if you're considering buying one. Mine is one of the rare two-wheel drive versions but I still love it!
June 11, 2009I loved my 4Runner, the way it drove, rode, everything about it and I regret trading it. The Sport Edition I owned had a cool hood scoop that gave it a distinctive look. The total package was a good buy and I wish I had never traded it.

April 29, 2009The exterior looks great. Ride quality is smooth on paved roads for an SUV with a rear live axle. Handling is great with the XREAS and not top heavy for its height. The V8 is fast and has plenty of torque to pull anything. The interior design is alright with the black marble trim and leather. The 4Runner is packed with features like dual zone auto climate control, power everything, auto headlights, heated seats, adjustable ride height, and navigation system. The seats are low to the ground, but I find them comfortable. Headroom can be a little more generous, but it doesn't prevent me from loving this truck! I definitely would recommend the 4Runner to anybody.
February 10, 2008These vehicles are dependable and safe. I put mother in law and wife in 4runner. Strong and safe for them, peace of mind for me. Thank you Toyota. Comfortable and quiet ride.
October 3, 2020Honestly, does not get the best gas mileage. But I am not interested in that so much as value, durability, reliability, and practicality. It gets a rating of 10 in those areas.
May 15, 2020I like this vehicle all around its great for everything, long trips, towing, hauling, inside hauling space. Everything about this rig is great. I don't think you could go wrong buying one. I wish I had a newer model. Good luck.
July 11, 20134th gen are Rust Buckets. Great off-road capability but every component including the frame were improperly treated against rust. Every single one I looked were a mess underneath is the ultimate deal killer for me.
December 27, 2021I have one for like 2 years and that vehicle is secure and strong, and its last for ever. One of the best vehicles in Toyota brands . Thanks Toyota for making this kinds of cars
October 14, 2021Have good resale value. And engine runs well over 200,000 miles. But the price can be high for a pre owned vehicle.
