2003 Pontiac Sunfire Reviews, Pricing & Specs

I've owned this car for 6 years and I still like it tremendously. There have been a few problems with it. There were some recalls that I was unaware of until my tail-lights kept burning out and melting. But when I took it to the shop, they fixed it and the other 2 recalled parts and it's been fine since. I enjoy driving it. It handles well, though I'm a fairly sedate driver, so that may be just me. The cup holders in the front are something I'd like to change, though. They're fine for cans, small drinks and some medium sized cups, but the large 44oz and up tend to bump into the radio tune knob and change radio stations. Update 5/19/15: I gave this car to my daughter when I finally bought my Firebird. After having it for 2 years, she had an accident with one of those brick mailboxes. The car, of course, was totaled, but she walked away unharmed. The air bags did their job well, and even though she hit the mailbox with some force and the front end was crushed, she was not hurt. So, I add to my review my thoughts on the safety of this car in an accident. If I could buy another Sunfire, I'd do so with no reservations.Nov 21, 2011

Great car reliable, however electrical systems lil funky. I cant complain too much though, it gets you from A to B with a little speed. Very nice looks to it, but always has something braking. Brakes are good, interior styling is great, exterior is nice too except for back end is a lil too pointed. 28 mpg highway 20 city. Very fun to drive though, mines black and it does ahave a lil flare to it.Jan 22, 2010

I think its a nice average car, the problem is 2 many people have cars alike mine. I wish the c.d player was better, and it wasn't a chevy :P LOL. other than that its good! gas milage is great! car is really fun 2 drive!! buily is ok, its sometimes hard 2 get into, its good looking inside and out, performance is good! i don't like abs brakes thou. Manual Baby. 5-speed all the way!!! The manual version of this car is amazing. Not to mention my custom light work on the interior. It gete 40 mpg highway and 33 city. The engine was converted back to a cartrige style oil fliter making oil changes a breeze. Also the clutch master cylinder resoviour is located right next to the breaks for easy access! Pretty good little racer as manual trans, the 2.2 Ecotech is a strong engine when handled properly. Handles and brakes great, smooth shift when engine is at operating temp. Lots of electrical problems, so far, I've had fixed: The tail lights, reverse lights (and they quit again recently), headlights and fog lights (corrosion in the main harness), rear defrost and dash lights.Nov 16, 2007
