Alfas aren't known for their reliability but the Alfa 156 has to be one of the all time Alfa classics. It's coupe-ish looks is perfect for a single guy who likes to hang out with his mates. The sport looks is combined with great sounding engines ready to stir the soul. The selespeed offers good feel, although its a little jerky and tends to suffer with reliability. The Q- system is a good auto gearbox with the "H' gate shift adding a proper manual feel rather than most steptronic boxes do. If you want the best drive, its the manual that offers the best feel. With the 159 replacing it, the Alfa 156 is sure to be an instant classic. The ones with the Q system don't get most of the votes but with the only 'H' gate style shift among the autos, its sure to be a recognized classic. Jun 01, 2009

It's so pretty I want to make love to it hahahah :P Alfas have one of the best interiors, and they are definately ahead of their time at least for the 1998 - 2004 models, plus the 156 is e relatively reliable car as far as alfas go :)Mar 30, 2009

As with every Alfa Romeo my 156 had a wonderful engine, not super in performance but it sounds beautiful. Add to this the wonderful styling and spacious boot I really enjoyed my year with the Alfa Romeo. It's a shame I had to get rid of due to the cost of running a petrol engine with my yearly mileageJan 06, 2009
