2002 Alfa Romeo 156 Reviews, Pricing & Specs

I'm always subjective when I talk about this car. I wanted 156 since I first saw that commercial in 1997, and when i bought one for me, I realize that, by far, this was the best spent money in my life so far.... This car will be a classic. So, I think we all know everything about 156 and I wont write any statistic here. I only may add that U must own more then one Alfa Romeo to be the judge about quality. If you had only 155, or 33, you must be thinking, well, Alfa's R nothing special. If you had something from 1980's, you must be thinking, my God, I'm lucky to be alive, no thanks...but, thrust me, if you like cars, you should buy 156 with V6 engine. that's pure erotica on wheels.. As I mentioned above, I would buy one V6 but, i should pay about 500 euros every year for that pleasure, and that's too much for me at the moment. so, you lucky bustards with low registration taxes, enjoy for me too.Dec 20, 2010

The most important thing about a car, is that it keeps you smiling, and my Alfa does just that. I love it - a great drive, still gorgeous and maintainance is low. Would buy one again, if it was still made. update: I would be a Giulietta today the 175BHP version with the sports-package, but I am still very happy with my 156, despite the rising maintenance cost, but those are predicitable on a 10 years old car with 200K on the clock.Feb 18, 2010

accelerates pretty well for a 1.6, handling is brilliant. so far ive had to change the upper and lower suspension arms on both sides on the front end, new drivers side drive shaft, head gasket, a few lambda sensors, and a bit of fiddling with the gear box. its appearance.... well its an alfa romeo!! it does about 34 mpg if you drive sensibly.... overall its a great car to drive.Jul 31, 2009

The Alfa Romeo 156 that I drove for a week-end was a company car that I borrowed from a friend. It was a standard 156 sedan with the 1.9jtd engine which produces 115hp. The car drives well. The handling is on the sporty side, sacrificing comfort for a good road feel. Personally, I didn't think the compromise was that well-chosen: the car doesn't really stand out with its road-holding and it isn't very comfortable for a family sedan. Note that this wasn't the sports version! The interior was all-leather with the wooden steering wheel. You can't get any better than this. But it is a very Italian car in the way that everything looks super at a first glance, but after a while you start noting small imperfections and bigger irritators like noises, bad build quality, low-quality leather, irregular fits and other negligence. I had the 156 GTA (3.2 V6) when it was all working properly this car was epic. sadly, it lived down to its reputation and spent many a day in the Alfa dealership haveing brake discs, steering column, front anti-roll bar, brake calipers... etc replaced. When it worked tho, boy what a car. 0-60 in 6 secs and it made a noise like you wouldn't believe. I'd have another one tomorrow...Oct 21, 2008
