For the grip, I think that comes first in preference over any other car ... it goes for the moment and generally for the performance! She has no problem with squeaks or the post! It is totally safe both on-road driving and the more hard-pilot!Feb 20, 2012

Alfa Romeo V6 and good design is so good for me.
V6 sound like ferrari v8 with kida-special muffler.
Walter de'Silva design, it's a beautiful wagon I have ever seen.
not for sports driving :)

Performance: Has a lot of pull for such a small engine (1.6) but has a lovely growl to it. Brakes feel nice and strong with lots of feel. Handles nicely, lots of grip from the wider tires but ride on these wheels can be crashy.
Build Quality: Good, suprisinly for an Alfa everything works.
Appearence: Looks lovely, especially with the 17" Alloys.
Cost Of Ownership: Very good on petrol and Insurence
Fun Factor: Great fun.Nov 10, 2010

This car is lovely to drive the steering is light and has great speed in it , this is a
real sports car for the general user whos not all about looks , with is 1.6 engine ,
its can take off like a bullets but of course the bigger engine would be nice , its bad
features are its back window whihe is much higher than the car so a little bit harder
to see out , at a 1.6 petrol it does drink it , so this car is not very economic in this sense Sep 09, 2010

Your not a true petrol head unless you own or have owned an alfa in the past. The 156 has brilliant performance. Mine is the 2.4JTD which has 170 BHP, but has been mapped to 210. The Leather interior makes it a nice place to sit and even with the car being lowered, its still a really comfy place to be on long journeys. Inside and out has that italian style, so much so that it has no cup holders to get in the way of their design. You can pick one up cheap enough, but you have to make sure u avoid petrols as these give far more problems. Biggest problem on a deisel is getting a flat battery.
Really fun to drive and own. Makes every trip that wee bit more exciting.Jul 26, 2010

Engine/ Gearbox Perfomance aspect is somewhat lacking despite being manual,
braking and handling is beautiful. Great build quality although typical of euro
designers not leaving
alot of space to work but extreme sound deadening in the car can bearly hear
outside noise. love the appearance of the car but would prefer the facelift
option. relatively cheap to buy, great on economy when driven so. loves e98
octane with a booster but never cheap.
this car is so much fun to drive crack the sunroof and windows to cruise down
the beach or hit up some nice winding roads.Jul 11, 2010

Couple de tracteur, tenue de route excellente, mais rayon de braquage pitoyable. Coffre ridicule mais compensé par la ligne. Un beau cuir rouge et un son enchanteur, bref, un régal sur toute la ligne. Et ça consomme rien en plus!Oct 25, 2009

Everyone should have an Alfa at some point! Mine is just quick enough, but better looking than anything else made at the time. Build quality is better than expected for an Italian car, and nothing's fell off yet. Handling is excellent. Jul 17, 2009

Best car ive ever owned! Love the ride, handling and just the
essence of Alfa. Ok the build quality is a bit hammy and yes
the car has suffered from the dreaded Italian electrics and im
sad to say it has also been a victim of the fabled cam belt
snap which has obviously ended the life of the current engine
:(. But looks are brilliant so much soul in a car, ok one aspect is
a bit like marmite, the front offset number plate you will either
love or hate but what a car!Jun 28, 2009

Handleing is like no other. Looks to die for, And she likes to scream all the way to 7000rpm. Even when shes filthy she turns heads with admiaring glances. Look after an Alfa and it will look after you just as good as a German box.

Its breaks all the time,... build quality is not great.
Looks great in my opinion,...nice driving position.
Poor dealer after care, takes agaes to order parts.
Great to drive, all afla are. Has great heritage, would recomend if youdon;t mind working on it and being on first name terms with the main dealers mechanic.Jan 17, 2009

It's a bag of bolts, not really that quick and the same old things keep going wrong but i just love it. Would never recommend one to a friend but I'd buy another tomorrow.
Just look at it..it's gorgeous!!Jan 05, 2009

Like - everything, even that annoying creak from the dashboard. i'd go out of my way just to drive this car. mileage is great, and performace amazing. very fast for a 2l car especially after 'tweaking' the engine, and it just sticks to the road like superglue, no matter how fast you swerve it around a corner. if i tried to lose control and make the car spin out i couldnt. replacing the stock suspension, brakes and anti roll bars takes it to a whole new level, ive had drivers who have driven m3s tell me mine handles as well or better now. yeah its a front wheel drive compared to the usually preferable rear but i wouldnt touch another brand after my Alfa Romeos, its pure driving fun. Would I recommend it to a friend? id recommend it to anybody!Dec 10, 2008

Only a 1.6 engine but the power and handling really impressed. The car looked great I still haven't come across a 4 door saloon that looks as good. The car never put a foot wrong all the time I had it but servicing costs were large. It did very well for fuel 35MPG+ and for the money it was tons of fun.Sep 09, 2008

Great 5 cylinder turbo diesel engine - sounded fantastic and had sooo much grunt. Best thing was - it wasn't a BM or Audi - had plenty of flair and was a delight to live with for 3 years.
Mind you, £2000 for the 72,000 mile service must have hurt the lease companyJul 25, 2008

I just loved this car. On small countryside roads aswell at motorways, the engine just woke up at the "licence"-barrier...
But poor build quality, odd engineering and expensive repairs made me sold this beaty..May 21, 2008
