Essential to find an Astra with traceable history.
Preferably leased cars with FSH are the best buy.
1.4 16V very perky and easy on fuel (depending how you drive of course). 1.6 + 1.8 not worth the higher road tax or fuel expense.
Higher spec cars have better sound proofing look for sunroof, 4 electric windows and possibly Air Con.Jan 23, 2012

Chose the Astra 2002 Coupe Turbo over the old E36 M3, I dont regret it as once you have felt the turbo delivery your mind is made up, the car is also very rare with less than 400 still on the South African roads, its a true collectors car as I dont think Opel will ever make another real coupe, the new astra CC is just a joke.Dec 08, 2009

Reliable chassis for my country (Lithuania) routes. Has Good enough performace and economy balance. Cars is stable on the road, nice ESP (Electronic stability control) work on turns. Enough car size for city.

The acceleration and the handling is the best int he Astra. I
feel there is no other car which can be as good as the Astra.
The interiors are also good. The seating space matches my
requirements. Well the mileage is not so good. But its worth
riding the Astra.Oct 04, 2009

Like I said. OPEL ASTRA COUPE 2lt TURBO. Need
I
say more?
147kW standard, leather seats, seat warmers,
best
looks.
Performance: 0-100 in 7.4sec (tested it myself)
Fun factor: YES! Definitely.
Cost of ownership: Bit expensive to fix
something, and the spares shops will ALWAYS
give the wrong part first.Aug 06, 2009

Love everything about it, the sound, performance and the look. She's only a 2002 but will run away from most of the "Hot Hatches" in SA(Golf V Gti, Polo Gti, Audi S3, Seat, even the Opel Astra OPC.) And most of the big saloons as well, while still being reliable at the same time.SHE ROCKS!!!Nov 27, 2008

Sep 13, 2008

Specifically, I drive an Astra Coupe Turbo.
What a car this has proven to be!
Stunning looks, agile handling and outstanding performance!
Truly an understated pocket-rocket!
The car comes standard with 308mm front brakes, equipped with ABS with EBD. The car has full ABS and EPS, as well as front and passenger airbags, and airbags in the seats.
The interior is plush, with full leather seats and leather inserts on the doors. The front seats are also electrically heated, with adjustable heat settings.
Maintenance is a little on the high side, but that is to be expected with any performance vehicle. With relatively small modifications, the car is capable of hitting the 280HP mark with ease.Aug 27, 2008

Performance: acceleration is good but not great. Same for braking. Handling is good, at least for a coupe.
Build Quality: car has over 60,000 miles and not rattles, a few squeaks in the interior though. But nothing too bad. Quality of plastics is good, like most European cars.
Appearance: I love the exterior styling, as I love coupes. However, the front and back should both have been slightly longer to make the shape perfect.
The interior is not too attractive but leather heated bucket seats as well as a good option list (auto A/C for example), makes it a nice interior to spend time in.
Cost of ownership: gas mileage is roughly 30 miles per gallon. Maintenance is not too expensive for the moment as only motor oil has been changed.Aug 06, 2008

Opel Astra Coupe - Love the looks, love the comfort and love the power - very economical for a 2.0 T, awesome power and motor is highly upgradeable for better performance ;) Only mods done so far is down pipe and exhaust car is making 165kw and 305nm. Next mods to follow is front mounted intercooler, VXR turbo and EDS Phase III software upgrade :)Aug 04, 2008

A competent small car with far better handling than people generally believe, holding its own with the much-lauded C170 Ford Focus. More than a match performance-wise with the two-litre turbodiesel, getting to 205 km/h comfortably. Excellent ride. A practical car, which I tested over 9,000 km through different European countries.Jul 14, 2008
