Overall, a great inexpensive car to own and operate, just turned 163000 miles and it keeps on going. Not bad for 2 adults, but it struggles with 4 people inside. Great gas mileage, I average approximately 31mpg on the highway, and about 25 mpg in the city. Overall it has been a trouble-free car, and I would definately buy another oneDec 28, 2014

Good over all, my car has problems that need to be fixed so i cant complain until i fix the problems and then judge. the Car length is nice and small so you are able to fit into tighter spaces. Got this car after my Explorer kicked the tranny bucket. Have only had it for about a month now and so far I love it. Nice basic car that moves well on the highways and prowls the city streets like a pro!
Got our first good snow/ice storm and this little car did fantastic in it. My job is up on a pretty steep hill and we drove past 3 cars that werent able to make it all the way up..the little Focus just cruised right up like the road was flat and dry!!!Oct 04, 2013

Great Car All Around. Handles light and zippy, manual transmission is great around town and getting to highway speeds in a jiffy.
HUGE cargo room for this little Hatchback. I moved to and from college and all over the country with no problem by putting down the back seats and using a roof rack.
I have barely put any money into it except basic maintenance, tires, brakes, oil,
Came with a great stereo, but I had to have the 6CD changer replaced six or seven times while under warranty. Now it hasn't had a problem
Manual Transmission in crawling traffic is a pain (but that is with any car).
The Blower Capacitor goes out almost every spring due to condensation. A $20 dollar part but still a pain when it is hot.

With having full intake, exhaust, cam's, and a svt intake manifold, It really awoke this car, it keeps up loves to roast tires in 1st gear. With a auto-x suspension set up of full coil-overs from Ksport and front and rear sway bars, this car always remains flat in the corners, and is very fun to drive, in auto-x environment. This car tends to over-steer which is always fun. Still gets good gas mileage, fairly cheap to own and is easy to work on. May 09, 2011

My new 02 ZX5 Focus. Bought it because it was cheap to insure ($92 a month for full coverage) parts are plentiful, easy to find and cheap (brand new crate motor ready to drop in $1000) It's pretty gutless but it works perfect for delivering pizza (30 mpg city/highway mixed)Mar 17, 2011

Good Car, superb handling for a standard car, could be quicker but its too embarrisingly slow to be fair, Loads of room for passengers in the rear, ample boot space, cheap to insure and to run. The other good thing about fords is if something did go wrong the bits are cheap compared to your audis, mercs and beemers!Nov 26, 2010

Performance : the ford focus is pretty quick for a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder and the handling is amazing for an econobox car with its control blade rear suspension and through the cones has a faster time than a jag xj8 or a bentley continental.
Build quality : the only issue i have had personally with build quality is the springs break but the problem is eliminated with the svt springs or aftermarkets
Appearance : im not a fan of economy cars but its better looking imo than a 02 civic or a chevy aveo so as economy cars go its one of the better looking ones
Cost of ownership : 30 - 35 mpg and parts are cheap when they need repair
Fun factor : if your into drag racing you may not have fun in a focus but for auto x or really anything with turns its a great car because the handling if you put a 21mm swaybar in the rear the handling will amaze youSep 06, 2010

its just a base modle with A/C
2.0 liter split port with a 5 speed manual trans. I have upgraded the tires to performance Falken ZE 923. the exterior of the car is a little rock chipped but the paint is otherwise good.
The interior is factory exept the stereo which is a pioneer 4500mp with dual 10" subs.

Overall a very good car. It has decent room inside, rides well, and gets great gas mileage with its 2.0L 4cyl. rated @ 110hp & 125 ft-lbs with a 4 speed auto transmission. Wind noise is a slight issue though. The car has excellent suspension and soaks up bumps well yet is a bit sporty. The rear suspension pioneered a new multi-link system that is cheap to build like torsion suspensions. In a slalom test it was faster than luxury sports cars. The SE has alloy rims standard with disk brakes in front and drums in the rear. Stopping distance isn't bad. Power locks and windows also are standard. with SE. It has a very room trunk for its size. Mine has key-less entry as an option which is a nice extra. I haven't had it long but reliability should be average to good. Mar 24, 2010

Performance-acceleration is great for a heavyish family car,braking is sharp but not as strong as other cars.mynes sitting on eibachs, handling is the best!
build quality-no repairs so far, no squeaks or rattles,any work that does need doing can be done yourself, easy car to work on.
appearance-fantastic looking car,made even more exciting by mods which are relatively cheap and easy to replace
Costs-cheapest car to run ive had despite larger engine size, over past 10 months only had to change the plugs and leads.(leads were only to personal preferance)
fun factor- Amazing car to drive, sounds great with induction and exhaust, through this car into any corner (fast or tricky), you'll come out the other end with a huuuge grin on your face! :)Nov 15, 2009

I've owned many fords, fiesta right up to transit and of course a couple of Focus's. If you want a car that is built well, drives well, reasonable economy and performance and stick like glue, you can't go wrong with one of these. I have a Focus ZTS. low miles and is a 5 speed. i like the performance it stays along with the svt si and gsr. at least the ones that ive raced. the only thing i wish the suspension was rougher. and it didnt bounce like a granny carOct 13, 2009

Ghia Saloon TDCI. Just got back from cruising around France in it. Does about 54 mpg and is happy at 80 mph, sometimes a bit heavy going when fully laden and the diesel engine can be a bit rattly first thing in the mornings. Handles nicely, the turbo gives a nice kick and the boot space means it takes a much bigger load than the standard hatchback (and the saloons are less common on the roads).Aug 15, 2009

Its a bit slow on acceleration but top speed is not bad, braking is pretty good, and handling is 100%
Build quality is great, Cheao to Repair, Fun to drive but would recomend maybe the ST170 or RS.

It's kinda cool to drive a ZX5, lots of space. Very versatile little car with a quite surprising payload. It's nervous but not as good as the SVT. Too bad these ones are hard to come by where I live.Mar 21, 2009

Pretty decent car overall. I've installed 17" wheels and a cold air intake. It's certainly not fast, but with a 5 speed and a sunroof it's fun to drive. I've gotten 32 mpg on trips which I think is pretty good.Mar 03, 2009

I love my little car! It's a yellow focus and, though it's not a high-powered car, I can get nearly 40 mpg. I especially love the sub Trav installed for me :) And now that he has a grey Focus we totally match... but not in a lame way.Dec 23, 2008

It's a slower car, with only 130 hp, but its peppy enough to be fun, really solid handling, direct steering and good clutch with a smooth shifter, extremely reliable, not a single problem with it yet. It is also good on fuel, getting near as makes no difference 50 mpg (can gal.) on the highwaySep 04, 2008

i bought my focus in january its solid and is amazing to drive. after owning it for a few month i wanted to make it look abit different because theres soo many about, so i tinted the rear three windows and got some 17 inch alloys. but ford archers are massive so the wheels looked small so i got it lowered 50mm it looks alot better and corners like its on rails without losing any ride comfort. im really proud of my car and would recommend it to anybody.Aug 18, 2008

The preformance of the ZTS is iffy. It all ready depends on who is driving it. I, for example, love fast corners and huge accel. Therefore this is a fun fun fun car! The appearance is overall pretty and fun. Gas, on the other hand, is not so good for mileage. I'm constantly filling the damn thing. Aug 15, 2008

The Focus 2.0 Zetec was a useful car at the time after having a company car for 2 years. Much better performance than the usual 1.6l and 3 door looks helped with the sportier connotations. One service it needed was reasonable but it did go through 5 tyres in 1 year at £100 each for the 17" alloys. Overall was slightly boring!Jul 26, 2008

General performance of my car is pretty good. Acceleration and brakings are smooth which gives good handling. Gear change is also smooth. Havnt had to get any repairs as yet. Have kept up with regular services, although will need new tyres soon. Interior and exterior are both excellent apart from a smoke burn on the roof inside from 1 of my idiot friends(spewing mad)!! All in all it is a great little car which I love!! Took a bit to get use to the europien type where indicators and windows are on opposite sides but all is gud. Great car which I love to drive!! I like the style of the 2000-2003 model the best, so I am happy with that, although later models have a bit of an edge on performance. I wish it was manual, but nonetheless it is still a smooth ride and can be quite fun if ran the right way. I wish it were sportier, but then it probably would have been a lot more expensive overall. I may end up putting some aftermarket parts on it to make it more appealing, and I have already added Fusion speakers in all doors which perform very well (especially with techno which fits well with the fact that Ford created this car off of a European inspired platform).Jul 04, 2008

Love this car, great build quality feels really solidly built. Has inependant rear suspension so handles really well in the corners. Has a 1.8 litre zetec petrol engine, has plenty of umff. Doesnt drink that much fuel for a 1.8, I get 42mpg when driving efficiently. Air con, heated front and rear screen, cd player, electric mirrors, heated washer jets,ABS, alloy wheels, front fog lights. Gave me a bit of a suprise on the test drive, very quick. Mar 26, 2008

driving down the road with 177,000 miles and no early warning and suddenly engine blows smoke rolling out into interior and dash lit up like a christmas tree why i don't get it nothing was wrong just put new wiper blades on and had a full tank of gas drove everywhere fine the day before...this is a daily use vehile with no past mechanical problems eveerything was current including oil changes and brakes and everything....Jan 22, 2008

I can't tell you how well this car handles. It's mackin' awesome, seriously. The steering response is tight, and the body roll is minimal.
It's got a 130hp four cilinder DOHC, so if you really push it, it'll rev up to 6k and move along pretty good. If you don't push it though, it'll sip gas pretty nice.
The interior and exterior are nice, but not at all perfect. One of the doors feels a little bit clunky, arm rest barely works, etc. But the steering wheel and seats are excellent.Nov 28, 2007
