Hi, ran a Carfax check on this vehicle and found that the odometer had been rolled back, perhaps twice, at least once. It had an actual fact double the kilometers they were stating. Very disappointed.Nov 01, 2023

This is a great car for a person who want to save money on gas while experiencing the comfort of a well built small call. Its provides good take off speed while giving the driver full confident at higher speeds.Apr 01, 2015

She's a bit old, but for a first car I love her. She gives me no problems and gets great gas mileage. I'm able to fit 5 people in her, which is necessary in college for road trips. I also love that she's manual-- it's the best way to learn!Aug 11, 2014

Im in the Automotive business(32 years) and have been since I was in high school and have driven a lot of different vehicles so Im not a big Honda guy I think they are over rated but they are very reliable and will go forever if you take care of it just like anything in life but think that there is a lot of other cars out there that are just as reliable for a lot less money but I would recommend this vehicle to someone as a good car overall.Jun 18, 2014

I love the car's appearance and style. Quality and reliability are optimum for the car class, Mileage is good very economical. It will accelerate fast if you understand its 5 speed power band. I enjoy driving it a great deal.Jan 04, 2014

Not a lot of power to this car. Small for my size. Slight scratches and small ding on the body. Slight burns on the interior but can be fixed easily. Other than this it is a great and reliable car.Jul 10, 2013

i love driving this car. easy to maneuver while driving and parking. good gas mileage. stick shift works easily and smoothly. won't get sun roof again as it decreases head room and i never use it. very reliable and fun.Jul 15, 2012

Great car. Good looks, acceleration, comfort for the money. Original owner. Needs a CD player or satellite radio. Has been reliable on trips to Florida and Kansas. I like my Honda. This car can be fun to drive. Silverado is my best car.Apr 03, 2011

My parents bought my sister and me this car when we teenagers. Back when it was brand new, it had great acceleration, handled very well and impressive gas mileage. Almost ten years later, with 145,000 miles on it, this car is still running very well for what it's been through and is reliable, cheap to own and still gets great gas mileage. It's been such a great car over the years as I drove it throughout college and have taken it across the country several of times. Besides needing a couple of new sets of tires, I had to replace the right front axle a few years back (reckless teenage driving) and replaced the timing belt at about 110,000 miles, which is typical with Honda's. I can't complain about this car and would definitely recommend it to a friend who needs something reliable, low maintenance, cheap to own and to last a long time. This car has survived lots of miles and two teenage drivers. I've never once had to say that I hate my car. I am loyal to Honda for all of these reasons. Mar 28, 2011

Good looking car that gets GREAT gas mileage, sure some of your buddies will be
able to beat you with a 6cyl or V8, but you will be laughing all the way to the bank

Good performance from the Civic Type R when you thrashed it to 8300rpm in each
gear. Tidy handling, although did understeer in the wet. Engine feels as if it could
sit at 8000rpm all day long. Brakes were very good also.Jul 21, 2010

Garbage..... underpowered, manufacturer defect prone, repair upon repair all outside of warranty. Performance is best described by the word garbage. 1.7 whopping liters of single cam non v-tec power, overworked to put this pile of metal in motion. Honda made one of their stupidest decisions by equipping this car with a single cam non v-tec motor is a mistake.Oct 12, 2009

Very good for small family of 4. Quick response when it comes to accelerating and stopping. Very economic on gas mileage. Ease and comfortable to go around. Easy to park. Very fun to drive. Best car make for a couple of years. Give it a try you will not regret it.Sep 07, 2009

acceleration in average, good braking, great handling despite too soft shocks, great build quality, very reliable, average interior and exterior styling, easy maintenance, car pretty fun to drive but would need a bit more torque, like 130 lb/ft instead of 110 lb/ft, but great economic car for a smalle family, enough comfortable, with Honda's legendary reliability :) Jul 11, 2009

Performance - Stock with blue lights and a 5spd
manual transmission and it was slow.
Build quality - It is a Honda so it was reliable.
Appearance - It was stock.
Cost of Ownership - gas was cheap ($10 to fill full
tank back then)
Fun Factor - it was a stick shift and I drove it like I

Performance - Well its stock so nothing special here, brakes ok, acceleration so-so,handling nothing special
Build Quality - Weak compared to my Honda '93 Civic
Appearance - Stock look but if i dress it up will look better than my Honda '93 Civic
Cost Of Ownership - Parts are a bit expensive compared to other counterparts

looks gross in silver, but oh well, needs a make over

This is a wonder vehicle. It has served me well over the years. It still gets great gas milage (32-36 mpg) after 6 years. Only a few blemishes in the paint from rock chips over time. I have only had to complete the normal maintance schedule on it. Besides new tires and a battery. The only downside is it is not a family car. With two children now it is not feasible for two children in car seats. In the process of search for a new vehcile for this reason. However I still plan to keep the civic because of its realiabilty.Oct 14, 2008

I absolutely love everything about my car!!! It has a manual transmission which makes it fun to drive. It is a very pretty dark green color with a tan interior which is a beautiful combination. It is very reliable as Hondas are known for, and it's great on gas. Even with the high gas prices, I can fill up for about $40 and it will last me a while. My 4-cylinder Odyssey costs way more than that to operate. I have been nothing short of highly satisfied with this car. My boyfriend even wants to buy one now!!!Aug 22, 2008

Initially bought at dealer, base model DX with 1.7L D17A2 engine and Honda auto transmission.
Like:
Rock solid reliable.
Quiet.
Good suspension.
Dislike:
D17 is an anemic engine when coupled to auto transmission.
Not fun oriented as 6th gen civics (i.e. MacPherson strut replaced double wishbone, higher ride height, heavier)

The most fun car I have ever driven. Acceleration is great if you work on it. It has great gas mileage - I have 70k miles on it and I got 35 MPG on the freeway. The appearance is really nice especially the white color and tinting. I haven't had to do any major repairs just routine services.
The only downside is it is one of the three most sought after cars for theft so I would recommend an alarm system. But because the car is inexpensive you can buy a great system.
Would definitely recommend. Great gas mileage, great reliability, friendly staff, great looking and affordable - what could be better?Jul 15, 2008

AWESOME FIRST CAR! Engine wall is thin so it sounds awesome when accelerating fast : ) Very light and handles well. Gets very good gas mileage and has an inline 4, so its got some kick. Silver paint isn't exactly eye catching but it doesnt look terrible. Bought it for 9k with a little help from my parents with only 30k miles on it, so I got a pretty good deal!Jul 10, 2008

The poke is on the dashboard, you go from 0-100 km/h within 6.8 seconds thanks to the 200bhp of this Type-R!
The car has lots of grip, you can go around corners very fast without ending up in a tree. Everytime you put your foot down, man o man the cars turns into a beast, specially if you go over 5000 RPM so the V-Tech comes in. You immediately get a power boost and that sound...!

This is actually my wife's car that she bought new, 2 years before we became engaged.
Obviously this is not a fast car and not a luxury car. It's a compact car for someone on a budget. But it fills that role VERY well. Its reliability has probably been the best of any car I've been associated with. After 6+ years and 55,000+ miles, the only unscheduled maintenance has been a tightening of the belts. The a/c was making a strange whooping noise occasionally, but it works perfectly, so that was a very minor annoyance...
The room is adequate. We have a baby now, the car seat is in the middle (of the rear bench, obviously), and there's still room for people to sit on the side - not comfortably, but they can make it.
The performance is what you'd expect for the money. Not great. I've been a little annoyed sometimes trying to merge out of a cloverleaf. It understeers like a front-driver usually does. But none of these are terrible flaws - you get what you pay for, and if you're even looking at this car you obviously don't want high performance. It's just a good compact sedan.
One black spot on this car: the original tires were HORRIBLE. Just check out tire rack if you want to see some awful reviews. They wore poorly, provided marginal traction even on dry pavement, and were terrible in wet and snow. By now, though, it should be almost impossible to find any original tires on this car - they will have long since expired.

I've owned my Honda Civic VP for 2 1/2 years and have to say it is great on gas, comfortable (I'm 275) and needs nothing...ever. I get around 450 miles before I fill up and it takes about 12.5 gallons each time, so gas is brilliant. The seats are wide enough for my back and shoulders when almost nothing this size seems to be. I think the car drives as good as the day I bought it and could easily do 200,000 miles. I bought it for $13,400 and it's worth #10,500 2 1/2 years later? Unbelievable resale value. I just wish I bought the four door not the two door, but the manual is zippy not like the automatic.Jan 30, 2008

The Honda Civic 1.4 Vision is nothing special to drive, but at least you know it will start every day and it never lets you down. The 1.4 engine is a bit numb but its built for economy not speed. It has the usual Honda spec, air con, cd player, elec windows, heated mirrors.Jan 11, 2008

Just received it as a courtesy car when my car was in the workshop. Wooden steering, wooden brakes... poor driving position and very slow reaction to throttle inputs (4 secs before acceleration properly kicks in).
Only thing good are the soft touch leather and generally acceptable suspension....Jan 03, 2008
