I ended up not getting it because of too many problems with it. And I was not made aware of those problems until I checked it out and so I did not get it. Had to get another car for waaaay more than I had planned for and on top of that, that car had a major issue with it. Not happy.Feb 20, 2020

Over all the cavalier has been a good car. Vehicle has very good pick up and plenty of power. Very tight responsive steering and smooth and stable on the highway. The firm suspension make for a rougher ride in the city and side roads.Aug 27, 2014

This vehicle gets great gas mileage and also looks very sporty with the rims and the sunroof and spoiler. Maintenance is very cheap if done on time. Car is great for a student or someone needing to commute back and forth. Never really had any problems with this vehicle.May 08, 2014

Wish it had the ability to go 0-60 quicker.
Heater now sounds like a turbine engine.
Drivers side window doesn't make a complete seal.
She does have dents and dins.
But overall a reliable car.
Winter time sucks, she gets frost in the inside the windows and rear defrost doesn't work the best.Apr 03, 2014

I love the overall looks and the paint color. I love the 2.4L Twin Cam engine, it's has great acceleration. The engine, body, and brakes are very easy to upgrade. The only dislike is the dash. It becomes very brittle and will crack. Replacing it with a use dash is a major waste of time. Buy an aftermarket dash cap and the cracks are no longer exposed. Mar 12, 2013

Appearance -Looks good at first
Cost of Ownership -Gas mileage was decent, but the maintenance was a wallet drainer
Fun Factor -None really.

well bought this car for $500 it needed some work done to it....k-frame, brake line, control arm bushings, and wheel bearings...after got all that done she is a pretty good driving car needed some minor work after that..it is still a base model for now trying to get the money to put some after market stuff onto it..gas mileage is good when on highway not the best in the city but better than others....car is fun to drive happy to be back into a standard when push on the gas to go it will actual go unlike some of our previous cars when had to be careful when pulling out in front of cars...Dec 07, 2011

well we payed 500 for our cavalier but it needed a bit of work for example we had to change the sub frame, control arm bushings in the front,break line in back,2 wheel bearings and that was just to get it on the road but still needs a bit of work like shocks and strut mounts we also have replaced one strut mount,another bearing and both wheel cyls.As far as performance goes when u press on the gas it dont let u down.Dec 07, 2011

It is a High quality american car with very low
miles and has very good get up and go for 4cyl
8valve car. It is very cheap and fun to drive
anywheres and even on long trips and I go and
drive it almost 400 mile long trips and have not

Performance: Good In All Areas.
Build Quality: There are no Grease Fittings On This Car. It is supposed to be "Lubed For Life". It Is Not.
Appearance: Good Looking Car Inside/Out. Window Buttons Cockpit Style, I Find A Drawback. If A Passenger Wants A Window Open, The Driver Has To Do It.
Cost: Cheap On Gas/Good Mileage. Brakes Are A Bit Expensive. Integrated Washer Motor In Reservoir, Very Expensive To Replace, Even Used.
Fun To Drive: Very Fun Car To Drive. Good Acceleration, Good Handling With Front And Rear Anti Sway Bars.Feb 04, 2011

the 2.2 L DOHC Ecotec 4 cyl 140 horse engine is spunky-very easy to burn
rubber off the line
be careful in the rain-too easy to accidentally spin the tires at traffic lights
good mpg 27-28 city, haven't tested highway mpg yet
low enough compression to not require high octane fuel
fit and finish of dash and plastics is poor
sound system is very good
bright red, looks nice-mine has factory ground effects package, decklid spoiler,
fog lights, moon roof, 16 inch alloy wheels
a little noisy
only 3k RPM at 80 mph
feels a little flimsy
relatively cheap to repair, and mechanics don't refuse to touch it (like they did

I love my car! It is one of the 4 cavaliers i have owned! I currently have this one and an88 z24. Never had had any problems other than routine maintenance until i added an aftermarket performance header. It added a lof of power but it gets extremely hot and will burn a hole in the power steering line if the header is not properly wrapped with header wrap. now that we fixed the problem it runs like a champ and i think they should bring back the cavy!!! I love my cavalier, it handles nicely,love the color.
on performance 5 stars,so far no major repairs requiored,love the looks of it inside and out,i can go a whole month on $20. of gas 5 stars over all

it handles beautifully, runs nice. Overall, nice car for a four cylinder sedan. Excellent acceleration and perfect stereo system. Recent air conditioning repair. 3 speed overdrive is included, and what is also nice about it is that my mom gave it to me for FREE!Apr 22, 2010

Performace - For an old 2.2L the power is good but still could be better. Braking is awesome untill you hit a patch of ice on only one side of the car the ABS kicks in and the car is stable but doesnt slow enought for much ermengencies. Cost of Ownership - gas wise its aint a litle civic but its not bad if you take it easy. Maintanance is very cheap but some might say i have a leamon cause its been too great hahaNov 26, 2009

i love my lil Z car!!! performance is great! all cavaliers seem to have a valve tick but is never a real problem. their built great and are very stylish gas mileage is good and they are inexpensive to fix especially if your a do it yourselfer. i have alot of fun driving this car!Nov 06, 2009

For a first car it is awesome....its quick in a modest sense and has fairly a nice colour (mayan gold) and it isn't rice. More importantly, it's a first car to have fun with, not a speed machine or a rally car and I won't ever expect that out of this little car, but since i put on 500km and went through only 1.5 full tanks of gass its great, little to no maintenance, and parts are dirt cheapOct 01, 2009

Car performs well, especially for what they cost. Handles as well as can be expected, accelerates well, and brakes well.
Build quality is excellent for what it is. Sure there's some cheap plastic in parts of the interior and the glove box rattles, but it's not a luxury car.
I like the exterior styling and mine has the "Sport Appearance" package. It doesn't go faster, but it looks much less boring than stock.
Gas mileage is good, maintenance is easy. The only hard part is they stuck the oil filter behind the engine and above the exhaust so you have to take off the passenger wheel to get to it and then spill oil onto the exhaust to get burned off.
Get a set of sticky tires and it's very fun to drive.Feb 12, 2009

It's a solid car, although I have the VLX version, which is almost the same. The performance is decent, not the best obviously and the build quality on the car isn't that great. It likes the creak and the driver side tire area chirps alot, and it starts funny in the winter.
It is good looking and great for a college person just starting out. Gas mileage is great, I think mine gets like 36-38 MPG, depending how fast I drive, and the maintenance isn't too bad.Oct 08, 2008

Overall I couldn't ask for a better car. The pick up is like no other yet I've gotten 34 miles to the gallon on the highway and I get 26+ in town. This car has never let me down and would highly recommend it to anyone who asks about it.Sep 07, 2008

I bought this car in march with blown engine, replaced engine and i have been driving it ever since. only 60,000 miles, new yokohoma performance tires and brakes, stainless Magnaflow performance cat-back exhaust, weapon R stainless steel header, hi-flow catalytic converter. Its got a small engine, but its got a lot of humph which I love. Also the car is made in the states which is hard to find these days. I'm also very pleased with this car because I've had it for 4 years and I've yet to take it in to the shop. It just doesn't need a lot of work.Jun 19, 2008
