Great first car awsome commuter car. excellent on gas i averaged 500kms to a tank in the city. not the peppiest car but it will get you from point a-b everytime. Parts are dirt cheap repairs are simple and i got over 350,000kms out of mine before i scrapped mine due to body cancer in the wheel wells and rockers and floor.Feb 25, 2015

This car is a great car for fuel mileage. It is a perfect car for someone wanting to commute back and forth to work or school. Has a sporty look to it and has a sunroof. Maintenance if done properly on this car is very inexpensive. Not a good car for a family unless the kids are big enough to get in and out of the back themselves. May 08, 2014

I'm not big on the 4-door models, unless it's the RARE 4-door fully equipped Z24 model with sunroof. I'm still looking for one any color. I love Cavalier and wish GM would start back making them. I hear some people talk smack about Cavalier. Cavalier has it's share of flaws like any other vehicle, but it is a very reliable vehicle if you maintain it.Mar 13, 2013

It's gonna run forever. It better....it has to be my last car. I'm sorry they quit making them. It is 11 years old and still gets nearly 30 mpg and never needs anything beyond basic mainenance. I LOVE IT.Nov 04, 2010

It just rolled over 200,000 miles and it uses no oil, everything is great the only thing that's gone wrong is the starter is going out, there are wiring issues with the lights and the air compressor is leaking. Which really isn't bad. I love my car.Jul 14, 2010

I love my car. Its nice and always reliable. I few things need to be fixed but they are not expensive and the outside of the car is really nice i think. it gets about 30 miles to the gallon so its good on gas.Nov 19, 2009

Decent power, poor low end torque (except in first gear)
Poor build quality, lots of creaks & squeaks
Low tech suspension design, yet very rigid
Decent mileage, 600-650+ km/tank from a 2.4L

Performance- For a 2.4 it has some power. It has ok brakes like any other car, and it handles good if you have a few modifacations like sway bar, strut bar.
Build Quality- It is in amazing condition, Has been in some wreaks but was repaired amazingly.
Cost of Ownership- The cars ia sports car so the insurance and plates are alittle more, Mileage is ok for the little 2.4. Oil changes and stuff are normal.
Fun Factor- The car is very fun to drive, its very sporty and handles well.Oct 21, 2009

It has good performance, It also has a good build quality, no
problems in that manner. It looks good inside and out, parts
are inexpensive if needed, it has a low gas and maintenance
cost, and it is also pretty fun to drive although it would be

This caviler was a good generation. It handled well on ice or dirt. gas mileage was decent 25-30, long trips were better if i kept my foot out of the accelerator, lol. I had he car for 23 years. Normal matainence is the only thing I ever had to do to it. nice car for a couple starting out.Aug 30, 2009

It's a good car for being on the low end of the price spectrum. The engine(2.4 L) has good mid range torque, but the body rolls quite a bit in the corners. The interior is definitely not luxury but it gets the job done.Aug 27, 2009

slow, cheap, plastic, disposable, cheap to maintain, fun to drive on the open road, squeeky, rattle trap, reliable, maintenance is relatively easy. do not want another, hard to find parts, want something new right now. trying to buy a turbo car. May 20, 2009

I love the way that my car runs. I'll admit that it's a little loud, but I'm pretty sure it's due to the make of the tires. I bought it from a private party with 140,732 miles on it. I've put on almost 12,000 miles and the only thing I've had to fix is a head light. It gets 35 mpg. It came with seats from a Blazer, but they are comfortable. The only problem is they don't have the handy seat belt loop. It's a manual trasmition and I wouldn't trade it for the world.Dec 08, 2008

what I like most about my car is the handling, it handles great around corners and in the worst of conditions, it's cheap on gas, and not an expensive car to fix or tune ;) , over all I would have to say that cavaliers are one of the best first cars to own.Nov 03, 2008

I love my car and there's finally nothing major wrong with it. Unlike my last cavalier. I like that it has a sunroof and automatic windows and doors, and an alarm system. I like the gas mileage I get while driving it. I would recommend this car to a friend.Oct 15, 2008

-Performance Acceleration pretty good its only 2.2 litre 4 cycle Automatic 4 speed, Braking pretty good if you got good Quality brand name. driving and handling was awesome for not bad Cavalier " non Z24".
-Build Quality- Nothing need to be repairs! it has only 249xxxkm i'm 2nd owner.
-Appearance- both interior and exterior styling are good almost same as " Z24- more sports car package"
-Cost of Ownership- Gas mileages are awesome approx empty tank @ 740 km on hwy, in city depend on where you go work or personal drive still pretty good gas as far i know. maintenance- every change oil @ 5,000 km w/ performance full synthetic oil Mobli1 5w30( awesome recommend it i had since long time.) service by Gm dealership.
-Fun factor- oh yah its kinda fun to drive awesome! almost same " Cavalier Z24" but remember this car Cavalier LS kinda near base unlike same as Cavalier Z24 ( more package sports).Sep 09, 2008

The Cavalier was my first car, it was a solid car. Very
nice on the road, suspension really kicked at times I
needed it to. A couple downers, the car lacked
acceleration despite the extra 0.4 liters it had over my
new car. There were a lot of brake malfunctions with
the car. The fuel efficiency was good though. Overall,
the cavalier was an okay car, it was very basic and
doesn't have many selective features, the Cobalt

my air conditioning is broken uhh there is a crack in my dashboard, my windows are not automatic.no cd player.had to buy a fm transmitter.but its my car that i love. it has a powerful engine.and i love to drive it more than anyone elses car. i treat it like its a brand new car.Aug 09, 2008

Overall I really like this car. It runs really good, is clean, and everything works really well. Performance is okay, obviously it's no sports car, but it does good. Look, it was a base model Chevy Cavalier. Wasn't a stellar performer, no gunning it from traffic lights, but she was fun to drive. Her fit and finish wasn't world class, but she wasn't bad either. Just had to take her in within a month of ownership for minor repair on moulding that was already falling off. I loved her very much.Aug 02, 2008

Its great, it wasn't alot of dough and for the little I payed for it I got a red coupe with a peppy2.4 litre I4 motor. It has had 0 problems to date. The handling is excellent, due to the low weight. Very happy with it...so far. Jul 12, 2008

Got the car 2 years ago for somethin easy on fuel and to play around with.
Unfortunately it has the 2200 engine that lacks any sort of balls. The handling is ok, tires help it out alot (but any car would be the same), braking isnt to shabby but its not hard to slow down a slow light car.
Looks on the other hand can be different. minor little touches can set this car off, like the signal lights, and rims, bumper inserts, etc.Dec 24, 2007
