2000 Honda S2000 Reviews, Pricing & Specs

When I first drove the Honda I was really disappointed with the oversteer problem. Every time I wanted to push the S2000 thru a corner it was not as much fun as it should be. I finally did some homework and found out that most S2000 do not handle as well as advertised and would without warning lose traction and oversteer. I also read that with the correct set up and wheel alignment the oversteer issue could be corrected. After lots of research I found and installed the correct parts and now the car handles as advertised.Jul 09, 2014

Overall the car is great, but is made for average or short people. has awsome handling and 245hp is impressive for all motor 4cyclinder, the car looks aggressive when lowered, deffintly a high maintanced honda, isnt like your average honda civic, repairs are high, but over all good car and would make someone a good weekend car or somthing to fix and show because not to many around. The S2000 is the ultimate choice for those looking for a lower budget sports car. With a 9,000 redline, 240 hp on tap, 2800lb curb weight and roadholding to rival most cars on the street this car is FUN. It looks hot, the ladies love it, and you can roll in style, at speed and still get 25+ mpg. I have a spugen exhaust on mine, I felt the stock was too quiet. It adds a little something personal as well. I drive the car year round and its a blast in snow. I hate the salt and grit, but a few inches of powder and you're in for a sideways thrill ride. The only warning i have with this car is the snap oversteer. Exceed its limits by a tiny amount and you'll have some fun putting her back in a straight line. Performance- It's a mini Race-car. It has basically a detuned Honda F1 engine in it. but it is low on torque because it's only a 2 liter Build Quality- Not a fan of all the plastic... the age has caused some of the plastic panels on the outside to not fit perfectly. The interior is probably the best of any car me or my family have owned other than a Lexus and Mercedes... but it seems like they got the rear view mirror at the dollar store Appearance- Sleek, some would say minimalist. I like the look of the newer ones better but I'm sure I can make this one look just as good when I have the money. Cost of ownership- I had to replace the rear end after it randomly exploded on me because the previous owner probably used this as a track car. That was when I heard this was a common problem for S2000s especially modified ones. Fun Factor- It is really fun to drive, but it comes second to my Wrangler because it is such a high performance car that normal everyday driving is often rather boring and dull.Feb 11, 2010

This car is a future classic. Looks great stock or modded. The best part about this car is that it's sporty and practical. Unlike most roadsters, where you have to sacrifice trunk space with the top down, the top never intrudes on the relatively capacious boot. But no one buys this car because it's practical. I drove my S2000 at the Tail of the Dragon and it was quite possibly the the best time of my life. The sound of the engine on constant boil over 7000 RPMs and then maxing it out to its 9000 RPM red line is automotive nirvana. This car was made for these tight roads where it's not about how fast you go but it's how you go fast.Aug 22, 2009

Performance - The acceleration is decent, but nothing to brag about, braking is incredible, and the handling is very good, with not too much understeer or oversteer...but it can be tail happy (Especially the raw 00-01 model years) so be very careful in rain. Overall, the handling is very well balanced and has a great feel. Build Quality - Supurb. one of the most well built cars out there today. As long as you're not doing 9K clutch dumps every day, about nothing will break on this car. Appearance - I find the Exterior to very strikingly good looking, not an over abundance of body lines, yet it still has a very aggressive demeanor. The Interior is very well built, and aesthetically pleasing...although it is rather plain. Cost of Ownership - The gas mileage is quite excellent for what it is (18ci/24hwy), but I have easily had trips averaging 27, 28 mpg before. It's all in how you load the motor. Maintenance is more costly than your standard honda, being that it's a sports car, but not as ridiculous as some of it's german counterparts. For a sports car, the maintenance is very, very reasonably priced. Don't be cheap and cut corners on things like brakes and tires though. It will bite you in the end. Fun Factor... this car is fun to drive, absolutely. It is a very track-able car in stock form, and it's a great weekend warrior. As far as a daily driver, I would advise against, rain is a no go, and the interior feels a bit cramped with the top up. The only complaint I really have about the car is that it can feel a bit underpowered at times. I recommend a little bit of boost, to solve this :) Jul 10, 2009

Performance - Quick acceleration and a high amount of power despite the low torque. Build Quality - Very solidly built, however the high speed stability is low. Appearance - Beautifully designed interior and exterior. Cost of ownership - Basic maintenance isn't bad. It's something that a normal person could pay for easily. After all, I'm paying for one. hONDA'S s2000 is a flawless victory. Fast, reliable, and gorgeous. I get stares everywhere i go and with the top down in california the girls go wild. The s2000 is very mod- friendly with tons of retailers providing endless customization options. The trunk is reasonably large and legroom is exceptional. The interior is built using sturdy components. I have 135,000 miles on my s2000 and it runs better now than when it drove off the line in 2000. 26 mpg city, 32 hwy. Buy this car! Jul 17, 2008

The S2000 is a sick car that can take turns like a dream the stock suspension holds curves tight but still gives u a nice ride so no worrying about ur ass hurting when your done driving it. The acceleration could be better but once the car is moving it can take off like a bat out of hell being able to rev up to 9k rpms makes the car soo much fun. The car can stop on a dime considering how light it is. This car gets alot of attension exspecially if u dont look 50. Apr 21, 2008
