The good things about the cavalier is it gets good gas mileage and still has a decent amount of power. Since this one is the Z24 it does have a sport look to it as well. Another great things is parts and maintenance are not really that expensive for this vehicle.Jul 29, 2014

I like the fuel economy but the looks and power is not great. This car has no noise or blind spots. I am still building it. so in a few months the Power and Handling should increased. The look and style should so be good too.Aug 17, 2013

I like that it's a family car but still passes as a sporty car. I like that it is fuel efficient. Mine has child safety locks, which I love!! Was hoping for electric windows and door locks, but this one doesn't have them. I've been a proud owner of 4 cavaliers before this one!!Aug 16, 2013

Good car that gives us few problems. Always starts, runs well, is in the shop every 3-6 months for an oil change and usually something needs fixing (i.e. brakes or flat tire), but I'm stacking up the miles (500 per week). Would like something newer but if it ain't broke...Apr 24, 2013

after being hit by car on moped, I bought this car, my moom used to have a 94 cav 4 door RS and loved it. I bought this girl and been repairing and replacing things on her. I got her a custom paint job, mad stereo system, keyless start, alarm system .. just working out the last of her issues and she should be doneMay 17, 2011

Performance of this vehicle over the several years that I have owned it has been commendable in the fact that it still runs adequately. The acceleration of the vehicle leaves something to be desired however the braking and handling was quite surprising. Given the type of vehicle it is and its intended purpose I don't think it could be faulted to much.
I have only recently had to deal with repairs outside of regular maintenance so I would rate the build quality as being good. Though the Cavalier does not have an eye catching appearance it isn't the worst looking car on the road. The fact that it is also easy enough to augment with several available body kits on the market.
It has thus far been an easy vehicle to maintain. Being my vehicle for everyday commuting to work and errands it would cost me in the area of $25 to fill up every 2 weeks.Apr 08, 2011

1999 Cavalier 2.4L 5-speed 181,000 miles on the car, motor has 95,000 was put in last fall. Looks good and runs great, was an every day driver 120 miles a day to and from work bought new truck need to sell. $3000 O.B.O.

Acceleration, Gas Mileage, Maintenance, Pretty fast for a 100% factory car. Five speed, smooth clutch, pretty awesome car overall. I'd consider buying a newer one in a few years because it is a very good car and VERY fast for factory.Aug 30, 2010

it was a 5spd with 156K on it when i got it and I really did get a good 3 years out of it before the brakes and suspention finally decided to call it quits, the car probably would have died a long time before it did if I hadn't replaced the timing componentsAug 19, 2010

The car accelerates poorly. It is built cheaply and you can tell this by how loud it sounds on the highway. It does however get me from point a to point b and at 40 mpg i cant really complain.Aug 09, 2010

Even if it's a cavalier, this car is comfortable to drive. You are well seated and when you need power you press the pedal and you are served. This car have a good looking when you put some accessories on it. Jun 21, 2010

This car is the worst garbage can I ever own.
Ok to pass on highway, great top mechanism (very simple to use), but the car itself was based on the regular car, and not reinforced to compensate the fact there was not top to hold everything together.
The dash board was a real video game (lights everywhere).
Visit to the dealer once a month for any reason.

It get very good gas mileage, with 38/Highway and 34/city the little 4 banger gets
uo and goes pretty easily and it was just overall fun to to drive. I would buy it
again. It was always very realiable and i only ever had 1 problem with the power

i love everything about this car. all it needs is a paintjob. it out runs any stock v6 mustang. its a strong car. 32mpg. parts are cheap. and it is very fun to drive for anyone. that is if you love lil turner type of carsJan 24, 2010

Accelerates and handles well, IF you can drive standard.
Lots of rust, but i blame poor car care for that, she
handed me a can of paint and said "this is to cover the
rust". Interior is nice, and i like to look of the exterior.
Cheap to buy, really good on gas, maintenance, nothing
you couldn't do yourself if you had the time and a bit of

Good on Gravel, fairly solid.
Lots of squeaks and rattles.
Not that great on gas, seen better and worse.
Looks like what it is; A family car.

A Mexican built econo-box with a solid rear axle and rear drum brakes is not going to break any lap time records at Laguna Seca, but with a few modifications at least you can make it LOOK fast. With a mildly torque-y 2.4 litre Twin-Cam 4 cylinder mated to an Isuzu built 5 speed grind-box in my Z24 at least you can grind 3rd gear to rid yourself of frustration (or make it worse).
With likely the biggest aftermarket, save for Honda Civics, in the gaudy "ricer" arena, you can pimp out your daily Chevy soap-box to impress all the high school girls. The guys in the Subaru WRX STi down the street will laugh at you, but who cares?
The interior in my Z24 came with this neat red-speckled fabric and dark charcoal paneling. I removed the back seats and decided that space was better suited for sub woofers, not nagging back seat drivers.
Despite the general lack of respect of this little Chevy in the tuning world, it's mostly a hassle-free, low-revving daily that is moderately fun to drive once you throw a set of strut-bars in and lower it. Jul 02, 2009

This could be a very nice car. The RS though, has absolutely no options. The higher end Cavaliers though are very nice. Mine had power nothing. No power windows, no power locks, NOTHING. The car was quick, sporty look. The 25% tint made look nice and mean.Jun 24, 2009

This was a great first car, I fell in love with it when I first saw it on the dealership lot. For the most part it was carefree as far as maintenance, for the most part whatever went wrong was covered by the warranty. Very maneuverable as I found out by weaving in-between cars on the highway, could cruise at 109 MPH when you really had to get to the next town to pee!May 15, 2009

This is an ok car. It has excellent fuel economy 35 mpg. Still has plenty of power 2.2 L 4 cylinder. For the money... well u get what u pay for. Also this is a fun car to drive. Mine has over 160,000 miles on it and still runs and drives great.Dec 12, 2008

Its a white car (normally hate the colour white on a car but w/e) and I love it! Just recently put a new stereo in it and its amazing. When i bought it, it had about 120000 kms on it and it runs perfectly. I've had it for about 2 months and it hasn't needed any repairs yet...Oct 07, 2008

A good basic car! Lots of room to add things to it. Solid and dependable.I just wanted a larger simple fuel efficient basic car which was not like a coffin like my last car the Firefly sedan. I wanted a car which would survive a crash and not kill me.It's only cost us a thousand at most in repairs to keep it going since we bought it. z-24 engines dont last that long if you always have

everyone i ever talked to that owned a cavalier says its a great car and doesnt have problems, one person i know has a 99 base 2 door and she always tells me how she loves the car, i have riden in it and it drives very smoothly, and she says the clutch went once and thats the only problem shes had. a lot of bang for the buckOct 22, 2007
