Performance - acceleration is quite good, braking is fairly dependable, handling is
highly sporty
Build Quality - like most Alfa's its a nice car to drive that requires continuous
maintenance and like to be spoiled.
Really nice car with a sporty look and feel
it does very good mileage.
An extremely fun car to drive, fast and great on straights and in cornering.May 04, 2012

good acceleration,
not bad fuel consumption,
great italian beauty for appearence, way ahead of its year model,
nice sporty interior,
the only disadvantage is the repair cost which is expensive.
its very fun to drive, but i only wish it was rear wheel drive to double the fun.Jul 04, 2009

I love driving this car, its performance is excellent and
it is very comfortable to sit in with the Italian leather
seats! Its also Fab on petrol for a 2ltr. I guess I also
like it as it is a subtle version of a boy racer car with
all its modifications. Feb 11, 2009

As everyone one knows, your not a petrol head unless you've owned an alfa!
The 156 has its known issues regarding head gaskets and bearing however, a well looked after one can be very good and cheep fun.
Mine is the 2.0ltr Selespeed. Having never driven a semi auto before it is actually really easy driving and much better than a manual in traffic. very good acceleration with 150bhp.
A secondhand 156 can cost under a grand with T & T and can be a years cheap motoring in style!
As saloons go, its fast, comfortable and looks great with some of alfas better design work.
Despite the relyability reputation, all the while its still going, I love it! Dec 15, 2008

Mine must have been a mid-week car, it was perfect. Never had a day's trouble with him and was so sad to see him go. Yes, a "him". A car that looks and sounds like that couldn't ever be a girl! They do say you're not a proper petrol head until you've owned an Alfa. It's true, the looks I got driving through little market towns in Lincolnshire in that car...
Performance: The 2 litre petrol screams like a proper engine if you keep the revs up - hard-on material!
Handling - for a fronty it's sublime.
Appearance - stunning, even today. (Although I did have all the factory extras, body kit - NO SPOILER which cost me £200??? leather, climate etc).
Cost of Ownership - not too bad until you went to buy tyres....
Fun Factor - I want my car back!!!!!
Recommended? Damn right. Get an Alfa, live a little! But get the 2.5 V6 with the manual box, the flappy paddle thing drove me mad sometimes.Sep 08, 2008

It's often said that every true car lover has to own an Alfa at some point in their life. It had everything I expected; the real "wow" factor (black styling, optional sports pack with lowered suspension, skirts and alloys), and I loved cleaning it.
However, in the first six months it had: New steering rack, adjusted front suspension, new dashboard and new steering rack. Suspension continued to play up for the three years I owned it.Jan 06, 2008
