Good overall car for fun, 2nd vehicle. Lots of mods available or very fun stock. Watch out for rust on the lower front shock tower, especially the drivers side by the master cylinder. Check the lower torque boxes(where the lower rear control arm mounts to the body. These get damaged if the car is drag raced or launched hard with the stock control arms. Look over very well before purchasing. These are good durable cars but do tend to be beaten on or raced. May 26, 2021

A wonderful year for Ford Mustang. I love the sleek and low design. The V6 was reasonably peppy and very reliable. That was mostly due to regular maintenance and the good car care from Yocum Ford. Did have to redo the wheels recently.Jun 11, 2013

its ok in the preformance area. it could have some more power and torque but hey, thats what the gts are for. its pretty reasonable for a sports car that are presumed to be owned mostly by girls. the car is very fun to drive.Dec 26, 2011

This car is probably the best thing I have driven. Performance on this car even though it is a V6 is great still very peppy and there is an underlying growl from the exhaust that will exhilarate anyone and make them think that they actually are driving a V8. As mentioned performance is great from either the automatic trans but I have noticed its more fun to drive in the manual trans version plus quicker acceleration and probable better gas mileage. Even though my car's build quality is low since I have had to repair a few things from the steering column to the starter and now the cooling fan these cars in better condition are great and very reliable. Appearance is great from the aftermarket goodies you can add on to this car from racing stripes to Dual Exhaust conversions if you have the v6. Gas Mileage varies on how well maintained the engine is I think it gets 19-21 city and close to 30 highway its very good for the V6 the V8 with the economy nowadays is a little expensive. Overall great car to drive for some real fun on a moist/rainy day slam on the gas either in a parking lot or from a cross street great tire spinning fun :)Nov 16, 2011

This was a good car but slow! with catback exhaust, intake, and superchips programmer it ran a 14.9 1/4 mile.... it came with a T-45 5speed transmission, that BLOWS. they are known for syncro problems, i blew 2 transmissions out of this car, the first one lost second gear and the second one, in a race i broke the shift fork for 3rd and 4th gear! if you buy this car UPGRADE THE TRANSMISSION TO A T56!!!Nov 04, 2011

Good little car to get around in. Got a decent amount of power, and sounds awesome with its flow master exhaust. It's a five speed manual trans. with a 4.6 L engine. within a couple years, it will have a 383 in it though. The body has been fixed up since the picture was taken. The front bumper is fixed, but there are minor scratches on the body. eventually the body will be all repainted.Sep 26, 2010

What I love the most about this car is that it is not so expensive, relly easy to upgrade, good torque and most of all it does'nt break! You almost can't find a better deal if you want to ride in the low 13s daily driver on the 1/4 strip without coming back home on a towing!Sep 01, 2010

Its a great car to own, if you like and are interested in owning a muscle car without the extreme price, these are great cars to get. build quility pretty good. car runs forever with very few needs for repairing. The best way to sum up the old girl is... It was was it was. It was a fun car with the ragtop, tire smokin V8, leather seats and all that... and it was fast. Never found top end, but I know at 130mph it had more on the table. For being a GT model I was surprised at low quality parts Ford used. The plastic intake manifold surpised me when it came undone one day. But hey, it was a sweet car for cheap money.May 23, 2010

Love my car. It has really good handling. It seems to have good quality, the person that had it befor me rear ended someone, but it was an easy at home fix and it passed inspection just fine. It has good gas mileage and is easy to maintain. May 02, 2010

215 hp for a "sports" car is not enough in my mind. It is still fun and American. It is cheap to own. It was only $8000 with very low miles and it is very fun to drive and smoke the tires.Dec 03, 2009

Performance - Stock.... Nothing to brag about Build Quality - Solid car. Appearance - Awesome. Convertible.. Paint held up great Cost of Ownership - BAD gas mileage. Basic maintenance... Performance - great acceleration, good brakes, good handling Build Quality - under construction. Great car so far Appearance - Very simple interior and stock has an ok exterior... Headlights and tailights are a must to replace and it makes a huge difference. Cost of Ownership - 17mpg city but hasn't had any breakdowns yet Fun to drive! Easy to driftSep 04, 2009

Mostly stock great solid car takes alot of abuse. Mine has cold air intake, tuned, 3.73 rear end, magnaflow 2-1/2 exhaust x-pipe no cats. great car to start a real street machine. A little pricey to mod but well worth it!Aug 11, 2009

Amazing performance and acceleration. LOVE the V8 engine. Very low traction though, easy to spin out. Intake manifolds on this model have a lot of problems, like with mine. GREAT sporty look! Not great mileage, but not as bad as you would think, expensive parts. SUPER FUN car to drive.Aug 03, 2009

Acceleration-depends on how heavy your foot is, cuz it'll throw you back in your seat if you want it to. Handling-goes anywhere you want it to, wherever you turn the wheel it'll follow. I love this car! Even with the V6 engine, it pulls hard from 1,9000 to 3,000 RPMs and can easily smoke the all-season tires from a stop. It must not have ABS because the brakes will lock up in a pinch. I've tested the gas mileage various times and consistently get 23 MPG city and 33-34 MPG highway with the 5-speed manual transmission. It now has 166,000 miles on the odometer and I've never had major engine repairs necessary. A slight amount of plastic in the interior is the only drawback I see. I added an after-market spoiler for the sake of appearance...but it could use new lifter arms for the trunk since it was originally not equipped for the added weight of the spoiler. It's fun to drive and the factory cruise control makes highway driving easy. There are a few squeaks and rattles now, but considering mileage I'm not complaining. One thing to consider is that it does not come with grease ports for the front axle joints. This has developed a squeak problem when the outside temperatures get over 80 degrees. Overall, it's a great car and I recommend it in every way!Mar 17, 2009

I love my Mustang the only problems with it are things that I've done to it.... Like getting in a accident... It's a really beautiful car the only reason mine looks off is because of the white door on the passenger side because of the accident.... It's a really fun car to drive it goes really fast for a little V6 it still run very well considering it's almost 12 years old and I've put it through it's far share of beatings....Dec 12, 2008

I love my car, she is perfect for what I need! I am someone who needs power but is on a budget. Luckily, I found my '97 V6 for $3,600. The gas is what you'd expect compared to a 4 cylinder but compared to a V8, it's heaven. I get American muscle without the debt for gas. It hasn't been too awful to maintain either but there are always parts that you want to buy. Jun 30, 2008

A 1997 Mustang GT Coupe in Black, 5 speed Manual. 4.6L Ford Racing Crate V8 Engine. Flowmaster Catback, Eibach Springs, Shelby Shift Knob, White Face Gauges, MAC Intake, MSD Ignition, Drilled and Slotted Rotors all around, Pro 5.0 Shifter. A great car that's easy to love. It made wonderful sounds whether at full throttle or just burbling around town. Rough around the edges; material quality was only sub-par, but it is a Mustang. Solid Axle makes for interesting handling, but it still went around corners with some of the very best. Incredible straight line speed. Back seats are rendered completely useless, much better for a bag or a very small child. Trunk isn't much better as it's completely taken up by 4 amplifiers and the sub woofers for the Mach 460 Sound system, which happens to be one of the best stock systems available. Rattled, clanged, squeaked, and rumbled it's way down side streets, through allies, and into neighborhoods. A wonderful car that is dearly missed.May 31, 2008

Overall it's a pretty good car, it drives smoothly for the most part, its body is in pretty good shape. However the previous owner put a few dents and scratches in it so it could use a paintjob, but the previous owner also installed an alarm system and a stereo system which were left in the car at the time I bought it. It also shakes a little between 55 and 60 miles per hour, but other than that acceleration is very smooth.Dec 30, 2007
