Accessories are top-notch for the model year and price point and include AT, AC, CC, PW, PL, PS, and PM. Acceleration, braking, handling, and overall ride are all acceptable, even on extended drives. Fuel economy , visibility, and winter driving performance are also slightly better than average.
However, reliability and maintenance costs on this model are very high in relation to every other vehicle I've owned. Interior space is tight, particularly the leg room in the back seat, and cargo storage is limited to the trunk as there is no hatchback trim available for this model. I wouldn't recommend the Tempo due to the extremely poor reliability I've experienced with this vehicle. If it weren't for the low reliability, I would highly recommend this vehicle as a daily driver for individuals or couples because it is well-equipped for both city and highway driving.May 29, 2013

Ok Overall When Properly Maintained, And Given Plenty Of TLC, The Ford Tempo Gl Is A Great Vehicle, Given The Shear Weight And Stature Of The Vehicle It's Performance:A+ Build Quality:A+ Appearance:A+ Cost Of Ownership:A+ And Fun Factor:A+. However This Is Only If You Care Enough To Keep It Properly Maintained!Jan 21, 2011

Unfortunatly I am stuck with this work beater until I fix the head gasket on my Lumina. But the plus on the car is it has power seats and I can move them up because I am a short person.Dec 18, 2008

Basic commuter vehicle. Nothing special. Performance adequate for urban environment. Reasonably good on gas for it's generation. Parts are still available, mostly aftermarket. It's not that expensive. It's getting old and has over 261,000 KMs. It's a lot better than a smart car, ha ha.
The body is still in good shape.

This was the third Tempo/Topaz my family bought and it was the best of the bunch, but still just an acceptable car overall. Slow pickup, mediocre handling, lots of road noise, controls in weird/typical Ford places, and generally cheap feeling.
It was in an accident at just three weeks old and was never right after that. It never needed major repairs other than that, but it always gave the impression that it was on the verge of having problems.

My car is marron and is a older car from 1994... there is a dent is the front left corner... its performance isn't great, it gets close to over heating and the back right wheel's strut isn't bolted in place but it don't stop me from driving 80 down a back roadAug 28, 2008

I pretty much got a 94 Tempo for my 19th birthday, and it is currently sitting in a 10 ft snowbank, but when she comes out there is a lot being down too this car. I have a buddy who is painting it and putting straight pipes on it. Besides that I am putting a system in her, and some tail light and head light covers.Mar 18, 2008
