Love 240's. always have always will. hoping to make more of it one day. possibly make it into a drift machine or street monster. slight modification have been done to the engine and will make more mods down the road.Feb 18, 2013

performance is pretty good due to the fact it is a truck motor. (america thought the sr or ca motors wouldnt sell since turbos were unpopular at the time)
build quality is good.
appearance is great everyone turns to look at the car.
cost of ownership varies, maintenance can be a pain unless you know what you are doing, and the gas mileage is excellent.
the fun factor is awesome. it handles well and can also drift with it.Jan 30, 2011

My review could be called bias, so take from it what you will. They are hard to find in really good condition, but they looks great, drive great(if you up the horsepower), and are reliable. This one was a bit ragged, but I loved it anyway. Must be a manual to fully appreciate.Oct 02, 2010

My old 240sx was fully loaded with heads up display, digital dash, leather interior, and power everything. it was a pretty fast car concidering it was a non-turbo motor. was an amazing drifting car!! body was in amazing shape with no rust.Jun 16, 2010

Soooo responsive, Brakes like a champ, and handles like a wizards wand!
The build quality is magnificant and doesn't need help
Its appearance exterior is sweet and at its best with its later added kit and the interior is a good plain but at its best with later adds
23-28 mpg and maintenance is at a low

love the Rear wheel drive. Love the stick shift, short throw shifter. Love the Torque.. Cars awesome. Got a 1500$ APexi suspension..Lowered, tinted. FUn car..summer car for sure but fun to drift in the snow in the winter. Jan 26, 2010

Quite possibly my greatest regret in life was getting
rid of this car. So much fun was had even though she
was slow, her interior wasn't great and even though
she was an automatic. Great gas mileage though.

The acceleration is pretty good on a 240. It dose lack in
horsepower though. If i had the chance i would definitely
swap the stock KA24DE with a SR20DE. The thing i like most
about this car would probably be the handling. I love the RWD

Nothing at all .. once SR20DET was swapped in (true engine for car) and car was converted to 5 speed it was great. Lots of fun while being able to go Topless as often as you like. True sports car and reliable. Sep 20, 2009

Performance: considered quick 0-60, handling braking pretty awesome for small car
Build: safe but could use better materials, consider that it's a compact car
Appearance: cool, but with major improvements will be a supercar!!
Cost of Ownership: quite good I guess.. everything is simple to fix and tweak.. it was built for it!!

I absolutely love the S chassis platform from Nissan. It is one of the best import front engine rear drive vehicle ever made in my opinion and would recommend a drift enthusiast, or even car enthusiast in general purchase one.Jun 20, 2009

This car has beautiful weight distribution and I love the fact that the power goes to the rear. Drifting is a dream in this thing. I've got a lightweight Flywheel, 4 puck clutch (no springs) and a couple other bolt ons. It's nutty quick considering the lack of power. I can't really say too much about stock versions as mine isn't very stock. I've modded just about every aspect of the car a little. Gas mileage is great and it's very reliable if you take care of it properly. This car isn't really meant for tall people but it can work. I'm 6'3" so I find it a little awkward while drifting.Jun 19, 2009

I love my 240.
Has SR20det engine swap with full 3" turbo back exhaust, Greddy fmic, koyo aluminum racing radiator, apexi cai, greddy turbo timer and boost controller, autometer gauges, cross-drilled and slotted rotors and racing brake pads, racing suspension set up, act clutch and short throw shifter set-up.
Car is a blast to drive, not the best fuel economy out there but thats not what i wanted it for.
Car is a strong performer and has excellent perfomance
It has needed work but it is a project car after all
Interior and exterior need some work but is not a priority
Average gas mileage for its performance

This car is alright... but it tries too hard to be the sports car its not. I mean come on now, a KA24 is a torquey truck engine. It does have superb handling though, and great gearing, but it lacks power. The best thing about this car is aftermarket support. JDM Silvia/180sx parts are EVERYWHERE. Engine swaps are also a common upgrade. Popular swaps include the JDM SR20DET from the S13,and an RB20/25DET from a skyline.
For a begginer drift car, the USDM 240sx is perfect, but don't expect a highway demon or touge monster. Feb 04, 2009

Rear wheel drive, independent rear suspension, torquey, lightweight and fun to drive. Great car for wanting to do sporty driving on a budget. Tremendous aftermarket and available parts make this a great car for an enthusiast who isn't loaded to drive, maintain and have loads of fun with. I've had the car for 2yrs. now and it's still runs as good as the day I got.
Pros:
- It's still a good looking sports car.
- Fun to drive. Can you say "DRIFT"?
- Cheap to fix.
- Cat-Back System
- Crossdrilled and Slotted Rotors
- Intake System
- Lowering Springs
Cons: About My Car
- It has some small dents.
- A rust spot between the windsheild and the top. $400 repair.
- The top needs to be replaced $1500 or less.
- A new paint job wouldn't hurt. $2000
- It needs more horsepower. "Engine Swap" SR20 or RB25. About $2500.
- A set of Adj. Shocks and Sway-bars. $1500
Overall the car has it's ups and downs. The car was built well. What else can I say than it's a NISSAN and that speaks for itself.

When they brought the S-chassi to the US, Nissan didnt feel like dealing with the US emissions therefor all 240sx sold in the US came with the KA 2.4L I4 motor. Its not the SR20, but it can still put out just as much power. The last year Nissan made the S13 hatchback it came with an opition of a Super HICAS, 4 wheel stearing. mine has that HICAS system.Jan 27, 2008

I bought one of these about four years back because I wanted to get into autocross and lapping. Very lightweight and nimble, but most importantly it is pretty much the cheapest RWD money can buy. Very cheap to own and modify, the car's main downfall is it's cheap non-galvanized steel construction which causes it to rust due to Canadian winters. Pick up a nice one from the Southern States, and you won't be dissapointed.Jan 04, 2008

Very powerful for a 4-banger, nice shape, and good handling, car accelerates very well and will run for a long time, even if abused. I bought mine from a kid that let it sit outside in the rain and snow for over 6 months, and it runs great. From what I have heard it is a great car to learn drifting with, which is what I intend to do with mine.Jan 02, 2008
