What owners say
"Overall, drivers of the 1984 Chevrolet Camaro have a strong affection for its performance and handling. Many appreciate its quick acceleration and the thrill of driving it, often likening the experience to that of being in a racecar. However, some owners expressed frustration with issues like fuel economy and the reliability of certain components. The car's iconic styling and enjoyable driving experience are commonly mentioned highlights, while concerns about engine power and maintenance challenges were noted by a number of reviewers."
This is a 18 yr love of mine . The best ,most dependable car I have ever owned.
February 3, 2007Stylish in the 80s, but it does not have a classic look that would grab attention today. The unique attribute of the early 80s was the T-tops. Removing the glass panels was quick, but they took up the entire storage area which was very inconvenient. The 305 small block V8 only made 150hp, but performance was good for the time. Exhaust was well tuned and produced nice low rumble. The 4-speed automatic transmission was weak link as it began to slip after only 3 years and soon had to be rebuilt, of course after the warranty expired. Overall it was a fun car and held its value through the 80s but fuel economy was very poor, averaging around 12 – 13 mpg around town.
January 6, 2012The handling is one of the greatest parts about the car. It also looks great and feels great to drive. You feel like you're in a racecar when you're driving it down the road. There's nothing that feels quite like an '84 Camaro.

February 12, 2007Performance- My transmission was never 100% from the start so I never got its full potential. But for a V-8 I felt it was pretty slow. Build Quality-The only thing that was bad were the T-tops. They leaked BAD! so if you ever buy one test it with a hose or check it out after a rainy night. Apperance-After I painted the racing stripes, the grill and rims black it looked good and unique. I also tinted the rear window, before that it just looked ok. Cost-Passing smog killed me...$500 later it finally passed. Other than that gas milage was ok. Fun Factor-SO fun! Ill never forget fishtailing around every turn in the rain never being able to get traction.
February 1, 2009This camaro as most 84 camaro's has a 305 engine, its has alot of acceleration, braking is good, handing is a little loose but when your going as fast as you can they i guess it would be, i have put alot 800 into it and i dont regret a penny of it, its looks great, as for gas, like i said its a 305 V8 so not very good on gas, but does okay as long as you keep your foot out of it.
July 29, 2008In my opinion probably one of the nicest looking cars ever produced, mine has almost 400,000km's and it's never had any major problems. Most reliable car I've ever owned.
January 6, 200884 Camaro with 406 SBC with Stahl Step Headers, has 750HP, runs off Methanol, got a 9" Ford Rear End, Ladder Bar Suspension, 8 point cage, Kirkley racing seat, Simpson harness, Wilwood Disc Brakes, 32x14.5x15 Mickey Thompson slicks. Runs around 6.00 in eight-mile
January 2, 2008Is a very fun car to drive, will take off by just barely touching the accelerator. Has a lot of torque, standard repairs for a car that sat for over 6 months. No major problems. gas mileage gets up to 20mpg, use synthetic lubricants and oil. I do all of my maintenance. This is the muscle car to have. Turns heads everywhere I go.
June 7, 2011I love everything about this car, the speed the handling, the power. I loved the roar of the car. I wish I would have had more money to fix the car up more and then it would have been truly awesome.
June 29, 2010Acceleration is amazing, brakes need some work and handling is decent but has room to grow. As with any older car, especially american cars, it has some quality issues. I love the edgy styling though it could use new paint and some updated seats. Maintenance is very low, however it does take a fair amount of fuel as you'd expect. The fun factor is a 12/10.
