I have had the MGB LE Roadster for 1 year, purchased from a friend. This is a very tiny sports car from a different era. It doesn't have any current contemporary cars to compare to. The styling you will like or not. I think it is sporty and classic. It handles well, the small inline 4cyl with about 90HP easily pulls the tiny car up to 80MPH on the interstate at 3200RPM so for such an old machine it can still hang. The seats are roomy and comfortable and with the top off the view is amazing. The car sounds like a true British sports car of its era.
If you too tall or too large, you probably won't fit, it is that small. The engine is plucky and my particular car is strong but acceleration is not up to modern standards. Breaking on mine is a little mushy but I have been told this can be fixed. Mine is a particularly well running, rust free sample but many have long since rusted apart or driven into the ground. Parts are very inexpensive and they are easy to maintain. If you want one just find one that is rust free as possible, the rest you can find and rebuild.
To adjust the valves this is the pattern:
using 15/1000 feeler guage slide in between valve and bottom
13mm wrench and large screwdriver needed
Value must add up to 9
When 1 is open adjust 8
3 will be open so adjust 6
7 will open you adjust 2
8 open check 1
6 open check 3
2 open check 6
5 open check 4Mar 18, 2013
