I had a 1979 GT liftback that I bought with 59,000 miles on it in 1982 and I sold it in 1997 with 332,000 miles on the odometer. The guy that bought it took it straight to the dirt track and drove it another 10 years. I don’t think all celicas lasted that long but I sure got my money out of it and more. Loved the car and never had any major issues with it.Jun 15, 2026

The 1979 Toyota Celica was all show and no go. The performance, even with the 5-speed, was pathetic, and the build quality left much to be desired. I've owned two Toyota Celicas. Both died. I doubt I'll own another Toyota.Aug 17, 2009

Was the best car I have owned so far, bar none. Loads of character and you would never see another one driving towards you.Feb 21, 2008
