2001 Toyota Celica Reviews, Pricing & Specs

I only had this car for four days, so my "quick take"is actually gonna be quick. While I had it, the car was great - I didn't have time to have any problems before I totalled it. It looked awesome - I wanted a Supra, but this is my economy-priced consolation. I bought this six-speed without knowing how to drive a stick - and learned in 15 minutes when I had to drive to work immediately after purchase. It's an easy drive that just makes sense, and it looks great. But it's a girl car, and men, you will be laughed at if you buy it.Mar 08, 2010

Acceleration is good at high rpms especially after lift kicks in but is sluggish at lower rpm. braking and cornering are a breeze, once car was lowered and chassis was strengthened it stuck to turns very well. Never have needed any repairs and i have never had any problems with it in the 5 years i've owned it. appearance is beautiful inside and out its a good looking car. gets good gas mileage on highway decent in city. the Celica GT-S is a blast to drive if it wasn't i wouldn't still have it. 1)performance: The GT celica looks fast but don't be fooled it has the same 1zz engine in your mom's corolla so don't push it, messing ABS but the braking is pretty decent "don't lock your wheels will cost you", handling is what makes this car amazing in my point of view I have taken same sharp corners at 90+ it will hold it. I have the Auto transmission which is a pain if you like to drag. 2) build quality: toyota's are knows for reliability and I have to say I agree in a sense my car has 120K miles on and it is still running smoothly, repairs are within the normal range a little bit more expensive than it's american competitors though. there are some issues though with windows squeaking and rattling in bumps. 3) appearance: in my point of view is what gave the celica it's appeal, the car looks very stylish and the interior is in proportion I love the sport styled seats. 4) cost of ownership: gas mileage is amazing on this car if i am not pressing and holding on the gas i usually get in the range of 30-36 mpg with the best being 40 mpg. cost of maintenance is pretty high both on labor and parts. 5) this car is very fun to drive it looks nice, cruises nicely. Was an amazing car to drive, had amazing power, had a crappy stereo system so I upgraded it, It had over 200000 miles on it when I bought it. I loved the car but lost control of not even a few days after starting to drive it and flipped it 3 times and totaled it. The car held up well in the accident. Car does not like gravel on pavement! That is how I wrecked it. Hit a patch of fine gravel on a curve and went into a ditch at 45mphMar 05, 2009

Even purchasing it used, I've had nothing but fun with it! The 1ZZ-FE is a small 1.8 liter engine, but you save on gas, and the VVT-i lets it go pretty quick for 140hp. It's very light, so it handles well, too! The interior and ride are good. The basic form already looks nice, but if you can find the Action Package body kit, it's so pretty! Mine has 148K miles, so it is due for the general maintenance, but nothing too major needs to be replaced. The small engine lets you hit up to 35 miles per gallon (I get 32 because its an auto). I wish my car was RWD... Other wise I love my car. The way it looks, the way it performs, the way it sounds. Amazing. It's one of my dream cars. I would definitely buy the same car again even today. And the cargo space, you will be baffled at what stuff I have carried in here. Currently has 125,000 miles on it. Still on original set of brake pads. I get 31 mpg on local+freeway. Aug 07, 2008
