I received this truck from my dad who was the original owner. He passed away in '92 and the truck had only 18K miles on it. Now it has 80K original miles on it and all I ever had to do to it outside of routine maintenance is a new valve cover gasket and a new radiator (the original one finally rusted out). Mine is the basic F150 Custom model, standard cab long box with a 302 V8 and the C-4 automatic transmission. It gets about 17 mpg on the highway. Now I only drive it about 1000 miles per year, mostly when I need to haul large volumes of stuff. I did have her repainted factory colors in 2000, and she gets looks all around town. Also, I upgraded the exhaust and replaced the AM radio with a casette stereo. A fine truck that I hope to pass down to my boys some day.Dec 09, 2011

I love my truck I've owned my 79 ford for 11 years now ant have not even so much as replaced an alternator. Just your basic tune ups and regular oil changes. The emissions on that truck as good as a new car. Mar 07, 2011

i got this truck from my uncle and i love it i know it's had a rough life but with a ford they are built to last. he wrecked it, hit a deer, been off-roading, mud bogging, and hauled lumber and metal but with me it's gonna get the same treatment.Jan 22, 2011

Have had this old Ford since forever. Bought her for 700 dollars back in 1994 and
drove her until last year before deciding to give her something back for all she had
given me. She is finished in Hot Rod Flatz black and has had just about everything
either replaced or rebuilt. Not show quality but I like her. Four speed with creeper
granny low. Built back when pickups were pickups and not cars with beds on them
like the ones today. The 460 gets about 8 mpg. Better than that when it is parked! Jan 17, 2011

It have 6 cylinder inline which is similar to cummins diesel.
It have so much power and torque that I blew up rear axles 2 times.
Yes it was fun to drive in woods.
I get mpg depend weather 10-20 mpg. If I tow 10,000 pounds then 8-12 mpg. Oct 19, 2009

The heart of this beast is a Ford marine 460. Thats right, its out of an old speed boat. The performance is amazing, with 0-60 at right about est. 4.5 secs. Braking is sufficient, handling is a little loose. Build quality is very solid, only repairs are new fly wheel, and fixed bell housing. Paint is candy apple red bottom fading into shiny silver. Interior half matches extrerior with candy apple red dash, and red and black bench seat. Mileage is about 10-12 mpg, relatively high for this engine, and very fun to drive, plenty of power to pull through anything.Sep 01, 2009

It has a 429 cobra jet in it. 650 horsepower. braking is good but not 100%. As for handling it is smooth. Its built like nothing else. interior is nice needs some work and exterior is spotless. It eats gas like it was candy so i get 1 mile per gulp. maitenance is easy. OMG this truck is so flippin fun to drive.Aug 30, 2009

I've been restoring this 1979 4X4 with a 300 six and 4 speed. On and off road performance is great! Very dependable. Good gas mileage. This truck is a blast to drive. The orange color and overall great condition always draws attention when I drive it. I would recommend one of these dependable, solid built trucks to anyone.Do yourself a favor and buy one of these trucks while you can still find one!Aug 08, 2009

I love the way it goes in the snow and the power. Its Black and very high with huge tires I got it from my grand father when i turned 16 but im not aloud to drive it in PA. If you ever have the chance to drive a truck then the ford f150 would be right for youOct 25, 2008

My truck is a 1979 Ford F-150 regular cab short box. its got a 460 engine with 400 horses, its really fast and gets 15 miles per gallon when driven nice. Her name is Veronica because black is beautiful. She has custom leather bucket seats, and a thumping sound system. She's a real eye grabber. Aug 18, 2008

I own one of these trucks. It is a short bed stepside that is Lifted 4in in the suspension and 3in in the body. This truck has been the most reliable truck that I have ever owned. I have had some problems with it but nothing major. I have restored it from the frame up. Great truck over all.May 28, 2008
