A very purpose built car. Not designed as a grocery getter, it's designed to go
fast and look good doing it. My particular example has unbelievable power
thanks to a high performance 383 stroker under the hood. Accelerates in an
instant. Handling is above average for a car of the time period. Brakes are
sufficient. These cars do have some squeaks/rattles/interior noise, but its all
part of the charm of a muscle car. Appearance is spot on for a late 70's
sports/muscle car. Maintenance costs on a car of this age all have to do with
how it was cared for the past 30 years. The gas mileage of a carbureted V8
definitely is no high point. But you get what you expect to get with this type of
vehicle. As far as fun factor goes, I have yet to experience anything better. T-
tops definitely add to the experience.Dec 02, 2013

I don't like how the rear end slides to easy, its a real easy car to burn rubber with. theres only two types of people who drive it, car enthusiast and bad azzez. with the 350 4 bolt main its a true American muscle.Jun 27, 2013

I bought the car myself at 17 and its been great ever since, acceleration is decently quick with the 4 spd trans. The brake could use an upgrade, when moving at speeds around 65mph it feels like its not gonna stop. Funnest thing ive ever driven, even better than the 2012 camaro in my opinion.Jan 02, 2013

Best year camaro ever made. Suspension was great stock and
still is. Performance suffered due to the oil crisis in the late
70s, but the motors respond very well to performance parts. I
love mine, and I will never sell it.Feb 20, 2010

The Camaro Has been part of my family since it was bought off the lot in 1979 by my mother!
The car is pretty much all original except now we put a deck in this summer, (The A.M radio just wasn't cutting it LOL )
Hopefully by this summer we want to start the rebuilding of the car (the old lady needs a face lift, as i tell my mother)
The car handles very well in the summer time when its nice and dry out, but for having such a light back end you would assume there are a lot of fish tailing in the rain.

this is one of my favorite cars its currently being restored and is powered by a 250ci s6. its a great drive and is sure to stick you to your seat every time it takes off. this year mode was one of the first to incorporate aerodynamics with muscle cars and introduced chevy to the in-line 6 cylinders.Jan 24, 2009

i love all of the possibility's my small block chevy has.patrs are cheap. it can easily throw your head back in the seat with the edelbrock high rise manifold and car. peeling out has never been easier. And with 12 inch subs and a 750 watt amp you can blow out your ear drums with style. one thing that i really need to improve though.... the horn sounds so small like a moped :( Jan 06, 2009

Well, what can I say. My car is all original, minus the headers my dad installed in 1980, lol. She's got a 350, 4 speed, posi, and duals. Sounds gorgeous, performs well. Very solid, just starting to develope rust along the rear quarters. Also the interior is faded and the headliner is falling. She needs a restoration. She's been in my family since 1980, my mom bought it from the original owner. The car lived most of its life in the back corner of a dirt floored pole shed with a car cover on her, surrounded by farm equiptment. Only recently have we pulled her out. before registering it in '02, she still had '91 tabs on her custom license plates. After a detailed washing and waxing, the original paint still gleamed, minus the rust I mentioned earlier. A good tune up and carbeurator rebuild and she's road worthy now, recieving roughly 300 miles during the summer, then retiring to the back of our concrete floored shed for winter.Sep 10, 2008

it's got a built 350, that i did myself and a three speed automatic. 245/60r15 bfg's all around and bigger sway bars to keep her on the road. love my baby to death even at 12mpg at best and even with a serious lack of a passenger seat. and besides, who doesn't love a good ol chevy?Aug 29, 2008

What a car. I had a standard 350 with a 3 speed. What a lovely car. Try to find one now. Leather interior. 350 V8. What a car. Spares are easy to get too. RWD and felt like it had a huge amount of power.Feb 21, 2008

Since I was a kid, when that 79 Z28 rolled around my neighborhood I always said that was the car I will get!
Muscle car? Maybe not true muscle but alot of potential to be!
Just the body shape and design..........just look at one from the front at a nice low bend(excellent).
I have a Z28 with a mild built engine,compcams 280,performer manifold,holley 600,true duel exhaust,2200 rpm converter on t-350.
It has plenty of street power and a real head turner!
Been off road because of strict emission law,but now that its exempt gotta get back out there!
Had many people stop at house wanting to buy, almost sold last summer but my son (10) would not let me as of my own heart!
Keep them as all classic muscle cars on the road! Its up to people like us to keep them around for many more years!
Buy them....Enjoy them.......Save them from the compactor!Nov 13, 2006
