the car is awesome always gets looks and strikes up conversations as well as a joy to drive only catch is parts can be hard to find but thats what you get driving an old car also its old school jdm Sep 28, 2012

My 1977 Toyota Celica GT Liftback was my first car at 16 years old. I drove it for 8 years and it was a great car. It put up with my couple of fender benders and survived my brother putting it into a wall too. The car ran and ran....the minuses as I pointed out that for todays market it is pretty powerless. I had it running sans cat converter, smog pump and used a super wide exhaust. This was before bi-annual smog testing, well it took the car for a 105 MPH top end to 125 MPH top end. I sold it in 1984 in favor of the 300ZX I bought. This was aferall the "poor mans" Z Car.
I wish to heck I had some pictures of her to put up, I also looked to buy one just for the heck of it but good luck finding one that isn't a rust bucket.Nov 25, 2011

These early Celica's are great, easy to work on, i've owned about 30, I restore and sell these Celica's and the parts on Ebay, This one was one of my Favorites, Looked and drove like a new car. Thanks for taking a look, 77sellicaNov 13, 2011

I owned three Toyota Celicas, all 1977 and '78 models, back in the mid-80's, and all three were lemons. One problem after another. I'll never but another Toyota, unless maybe a pick-up truck. The trucks are supposed to be good.Jun 18, 2011

I've owned this car since it was new in 1977 and I have always loved it. There are very few around anymore. I always liked the styling which is similar to the fastback Mustang. This car is all original except for the aluminum rim upgrade that I switched from a 1979 Toyota Celica coupe that I also owned. Sep 24, 2010

i loved this car but if i didnt blow the motor i never would have bought the G60. Ibought it for 1000$ then bought a clutch. a week later i was going 110 on 95 and she ova heated and broke at least one rod.Mar 03, 2010

the 5th best car ever. got to love the mini mustangs. it is only a four but it still goes hard for a four, they have alot of potential going for them, classic not plastic, so if you want fun good looks or a project car this would be great car for it.Oct 23, 2009

Being as old as this car is it was destined to need repairs but Toyota put super stock suspension on it including a rear end equivalent to that of fords 9 inch rear ends the only problem is the bushings need to be replaced with polyurethane to make it worthy of rally racingJul 14, 2009

This was my first car (well the photo isn't what I had, mine was a rust bucket). I got it as a graduation gift (I think the people that gave it to me just didn't know what to do with it anymore). It got me around for a year or so before I knew it was time to move on. I think what tipped me off about having to get something else was the time I had a flat and went to jack the car up, and the jack punched through the rusted out frame. Mar 06, 2008

Appearance wise she's a beauty.
I recieved my car as classic gift from my beloved mother, and at first I thought it was a joke...Not that the car was a joke but the fact that she bought me my first car. When I found out it was my next door neighboors 1977 Toyota Celica I've been walking past on my way to school 3 years in a row I was exctatic!
so 4 Qaurts, a few iridium NGK Spark Plugs, Fuel Pump, and a Cap and Rotor from Good old "AutoZone" I got her running. and boy did she run. Until i decided to redline the car while quickly catching up to the traffics speed limit ;) ^_^. Bam!!
Uh oh,
Come to find out my tank was full of rust and it completely clogged my brand new fuel filter. If your wondering I installed that puppy only 30 miles ago!!!
Never the Less High School Graduation was Right Around the Corner. And the Whole reason my wonder Mother got me the car was because I was I was the President of My Automotive Class and recieved 1st place in District.
That being said.
I decided to rebuild my 20r motor for my highschool project(a required academic acheivement in order to graduate). Granted I could of intullectually choosen anything else so I may Graduate. But I'm a Gear head, which means i'm also a hard head

the car won 4th place in the world rally tour held in 1976 and 1977 ^_^ goes to show the japanese Engineers actually had something good going as far as concept performance car ^_^
