Considering I paid with taxes 4,300 dollars brand new and todays value would be in the 100,000 dollar plus range speaks for it self .. .I kept the car Factory Stocked except for deep dish Mag Wheels ... I never raced this car on a track ,and sold it in 1984 with 34,000 miles on it and looking show-room new ..Feb 17, 2014

The performance is excellent, it has needed a few repairs, it is a beautiful car, its gas mileage isn't that great, the car is amazing and turns quite the amount of heads. It costs a lot to insure and I'm loving itOct 22, 2011

I've owned it since 1973..Bought it for $2495.00..Winchester Gray (GA4) code, 340 CU IN...High back bench seat with center armrest..How often do you see that...Gonna redo it later this fall and springtime...Got a lot of parts...Got to buy the Billboard stripes from Performance Graphics in FLA...I love driving this car, still turns heads..I don't care about bugs on the windshield like the Trailer Queens do..Sep 07, 2009

in short with a 426 hemi in it you can pull a super fast quarter mile and still hit pretty high top speeds, the 426 was the only hemi they ever put in a barracuda, it's considered to be the king of the road in the 70sJun 01, 2009

My dad ordered this car new from the factory in 1971; he traded in a 1965 Barracuda Formula S. The '71 Barracuda is the ultimate in classic American muscle car design. All relevant muscle car influences can be seen in this car: long hood, high quarters, short rear deck, bulldog stance, etc. They're impossible to come by cheply these days; we were fortunate enough to hang onto this family member for so long.
The car has recently undergone a 3-year restoration. The original 318 smallblock has been bored, and had headers, 4bbl induction, and electronic ignition added to it. A new Tremec 5-speed manual replaces the original 3-speed tranny. The paint has been returned to its searing B5 "True Blue" hue, and the frame and body are arrow-straight.
I have yet to drive the recently finished car (as it is with my parents in another state), but knowing how thrilling it has been to drive it before, I can imagine how fantastic it will be now!
I hope you enjoy the pic; I'll include more shortly. Aug 20, 2008

Loved '71 for the 4 headlight grill. Lines were really hot, and loved the slapstick 727 Tourque flight tranny.Jul 08, 2008

Not many people had the change to get in a car like this one. Our's was a
1971 'Cuda Convertible with the 340 engine and the Hurst 4sp
transmission. The car was originaly Plum Crazy purple as you can see in
the engine bay pictures, but was repainted in horrible school bus yellow
by the previous tasteless owner. Even if our car need a total restoration,
it was incedibly fun to drive. It was also very rusty and would have need a
complete restoration.
Of course it doesn't handle as well as my new Mustang, but it wasn't that
bad. I did not had the chance to try it as I would have wish because I was
only 14 at that time, but my dad let me drove it a couple of time on the
countryside highways. Accelerations were impressive, and to be honest, I
haven't try hard to beat the clock of the quater-mile because I did not
had the experience to try it. My father gave me some ride hard enough to
be breathless a couple of days, and be sure I'll keep that in mind for the
rest of my life. I will remember the tire screaming when he was shifting
from second to third at about 75km/h... Engine noise, G-force, hooaaa...
I knew I will have miss the car because we had to sell in in '85. We got a
big... $3500 for it. Today in that condition it would worth a least $30k,
or about $75k in showroom condition.
even if these car were sensible to rust, were a pain to start in moist
conditions, driving these clunkers is an experience every car lover should
try once in a lifetime.Jun 12, 2008
