Outstanding! Fewer ‘56s made than ‘55s &‘57s.
It’s a great value on a great car. Car missing me as owner-driver. JH

With the continental kit it has more room than a 55 T-Bird, but is shorter than a 57.Jul 09, 2020

A little bit of history. Back in '56 the Thunderbird was more popular than the Corvette. '56 was the first year they had seatbelts. It came equipped with a four barrel carburator on top of a V8 generating 225 horsepower, which was quite a lot for its day. Wide whitewalls and lots of chrome. '56 was the only year of the small Birds with the continental spare tire kit.Nov 16, 2014

Just took ownership of a 56 Thunderbird. It isn't running. Has been sitting in the open in Arizona weather for the past 6 or 7 years and is in RUFF shape to say the least. Tires are rotted away, etc... I'll be picking it up next weekend & trailering it to California. I'm looking forward to bringing this car "back to life. "More later!Jan 12, 2008

Everything And My Gramps Car Is Just As Amazing As This One. The Car

After 50 years I was finally able to find a 1956 Baby Bird that I could afford. Slightly modified (Mustang 302 V8, C4 Automatic and Mustang dual power assist brake booster, Vintage air heat/air conditioning). A little hard to steer because previous owner didn't know how to install power steering pump with alternator and air cond compressor. Car rides smooth handles well (except could use a faster steering box gear ratio).
Just a little hard to get into (low roof lines make you bend your head to get in) but once in there is quite a lot of head, shoulder and leg room. It still is a crwod pleaser for young, middle and older age groups. Too bad I had to wait so long. I like it better than the 1968 Shelby GT350 convertible I previously owned. This one had hard & ssoft tops and only enough room for 2 or 3. Too bad Ford made new T'bird closer to 54 Covette in looks (rounded front headlights/fenders). They probably would sell more if they were closer to original Baby Birds in looks.Mar 01, 2007

It was 2006 and I was staying with family in Little Haiti, FL. the car was my uncles who was from Miami but doing work in Moscow Russia. I was taking care of the vehicle while he was away it was possibly the greatest time of my life being 22 years old and driving a vehicle well older than myself you would not believe the amount of looks i got in this vehicle the power of the thunderbird was amazing, now that the summer had ended and i had to go back home to New Jersey driving around in my 3000gt i still imagine being behind the wheel of that stunningly beautiful thunderbird.Oct 04, 2006
