Customer summary

What people are saying:

4.8

The Mercedes-Benz GLC has garnered consistent praise from owners across all model years for its luxurious comfort, advanced technology, and powerful performance. Drivers appreciate the smooth ride and spacious interiors, making it a comfortable choice for both daily driving and long trips. However, some have expressed concerns about high maintenance costs, the complexity of certain tech features, and occasional reliability issues. Overall, the GLC stands out as a well-rounded SUV that blends style with substance, though some drivers feel the infotainment system could be more intuitive.

Is the Mercedes-Benz GLC a good car?

Yes — the Mercedes-Benz GLC is a strong choice if you want a compact luxury SUV that focuses on comfort, refinement, and a premium feel. The all-generations owner rating is 4.7/5 across every model year in the data.

The main trade-offs are a complicated infotainment system, some versions with higher running costs, and a few model years that place more emphasis on comfort than driver engagement.

34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Mercedes-Benz GLC models reliable?

  • Owners rate the Mercedes-Benz GLC between 4 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is worth weighing carefully because the model’s reputation includes higher maintenance costs and some reliability concerns.

What should I look for when buying a used Mercedes-Benz GLC?

Key things to evaluate:

  • Fuel efficiency: In Canada, the Mercedes 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD) system is standard on all GLC models. The foundation of the entry-level models is the brand’s 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine situated longitudinally under the hood, and a nine-speed automatic transmission. While it’s no firecracker like in its sibling the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43, this turbo-four produces 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque in the 300, whereas the 350e’s output is a tad lower at 201 hp and 236 lb-ft. These specs might not seem like much upon first glance, especially considering the GLC’s curb weight hovers around 1,900 kilograms (4,200 pounds). However, the 300 receives a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that chips in an additional 23 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque under certain situations — such as pulling away from a stop light with haste — which enables a 6.2 second 0-100 km/h time. At the core of the 350e’s more substantial hybrid system is a 23.3-kilowatt-hour battery pack and single electric motor that contributes an extra 134 hp and 235 lb-ft of torque. Combined output is a very healthy 313 hp and 406 lb-ft. But the 350e has a slower 6.7-second 0-to-100 km/h time as it carries roughly an extra 500 kilograms (1,100 pounds). Power always felt just right when driving around town and on the highway. The GLC may take a little over six seconds to hit 100 km/h in either powertrain configuration, but our 350e felt noticeably more expeditious where it counts: it quickly got up to 60 km/h on city streets, and passed cars with ease on the highway. This is thanks to the substantial added torque provided by either trim’s hybridization. Just right encapsulates the GLC’s ride quality, steering, and overall handling, too. It soaked up all kinds of road imperfections quite well — despite our tester’s massive 20-inch wheels — and felt overall solid, with no floatiness or vagueness. Steering was very light and manageable at low speeds, and it gained reassuring weight once cruising along. Fast movements on the highway and atop winding mountain roads were followed by great overall vehicle composure, indicating that the GLC would serve well for both road trips and reaching distant campsites. For a high-sitting, non-performance SUV, body control was very good, too, and when mixed with its low-end torque it was fun to drive in the twisties. Braking performance was perfectly adequate in any scenario, as was our 350e’s use of regenerative braking. Its intensity can be altered via the steering wheel’s paddles. We typically kept it on its most intense setting to prolong its impressive 87-kilometre electric range as much we could. When in Hybrid mode, it prioritized electricity over internal combustion, and there was even a detent in the gas pedal as easy reference for when the engine would fire up and help out. We liked this a lot. Electric-only was generally adequate, but for steep hills or especially spirited highway merges, we pushed past the detent to ensure we had the whole 313 hp and 406 lb-ft at our disposal.
  • Infotainment: As part of the latest third-generation suite of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, steering wheel, climate control, and infotainment controls are almost all haptic, the exception being a couple of actual, pressable buttons. Despite our MBUX frustrations at times, we liked that wireless Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connected quickly and seamlessly. Android Auto is also standard, but we did not test it. Screen resolution was quite good, and we got a kick out of its deep ambient lighting customizability. The latter really added to late night drives with a relaxing ambient/synth soundtrack playing through the GLC’s excellent stereo. A top-notch Burmester 3D surround sound system was included in our tester’s $3,700 Pinnacle Trim.
  • Safety package: The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC comes standard with a few types of advanced safety features, including blind-spot monitoring, active parking assistance, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and active braking assistance. Our tester was also equipped with the much more extensive $2,500 Driver Assistance Package, which included adaptive cruise control and steering assist with stop-and-go capability, plus lane-change assist with automatic lane change, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, evasive maneuvering, and speed limit assist. All of these worked in a smooth and harmonious manner. Automatic emergency braking wasn’t too overzealous, and adaptive cruise control was in no way awkward. Then, combined with steering assist, the latter made for a breezy, easy-going crawl through stop-and-go traffic.

Which Mercedes-Benz GLC trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC offers these trims:

  • GLC 300: Best-value choice for most shoppers, with the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, 255 horsepower, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and standard 4Matic all-wheel drive.
  • GLC 350e 4Matic: Adds the plug-in hybrid system with a 23.3-kilowatt-hour battery pack, a single electric motor, 313 hp combined output, and an electric-only range of 87 kilometres for buyers who want the most electrified version in the lineup.
  • AMG GLC 43: Brings the AMG performance focus with the higher-output turbocharged four-cylinder and a more performance-oriented character.
  • AMG GLC 63 S E Performance: Sits at the top of the range with the most powerful setup in the lineup and the most performance-focused hardware.

What Mercedes-Benz GLC do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz GLC years with the most listings are 2022, 2021, and 2023.

Model YearTotal ListingsGood + Great Deals %
202237038.1%
202134735.2%
202333736.5%
202028135.2%
201927335.2%
202526632.3%

Those years tend to draw the most attention because they combine strong availability with familiar equipment and pricing that sits in a useful middle ground for used shoppers. Higher listing counts also give you more choice on colour, trim, and condition, which can make it easier to find the right match.

What is the Mercedes-Benz GLC's resale value?

Model YearCurrent Avg. PriceYear-Over-Year Change
2020$30,205 CAD−15.42%
2021$34,366 CAD−15.36%
2019$27,252 CAD−14.78%
2017$21,656 CAD−14.4%
2024$52,649 CAD−14.26%
2023$48,371 CAD−12.67%
2018$23,850 CAD−12.63%
2025$66,106 CAD−12.02%
2022$38,334 CAD−10.15%
2016$18,146 CAD−7.81%
2026$75,199 CAD−2.61%

Most model years are down year over year, and several have posted double-digit declines. That pattern is favourable if you’re shopping used, because it creates more room to find value across a broad spread of model years. The newest model year is changing the least, while older and mid-cycle examples are showing steeper drops.

The 2026, 2016, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Mercedes-Benz GLC safe?

  • 2025: 9/10
  • 2024: 7/10
  • 2023: 7/10
  • 2021: 8/10

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC comes standard with blind-spot monitoring, active parking assistance, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and active braking assistance.

For the safest used buy, the 2025 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Mercedes-Benz GLC now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

  • Price trend: The 2026 model is at −2.61% versus a year ago, and the 2025 model is at −12.02%.
  • Deal availability: The 2025 model has 32.3% good and great deals.
  • Sweet-spot year: The 2022 model has the most listings at a current average price of $38,334 CAD. The Mercedes-Benz GLC offers a polished, comfort-first cabin with a premium feel that suits daily driving and longer trips.

Consider waiting if:

  • Powertrain/efficiency: In Canada, the Mercedes 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD) system is standard on all GLC models, the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder produces 255 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque in the 300, and the 350e’s 23.3-kilowatt-hour battery pack helps deliver 313 hp and 406 lb-ft combined.
  • Tech: The latest third-generation MBUX infotainment system uses haptic steering wheel, climate control, and infotainment controls, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth connect quickly and seamlessly.
  • Safety: The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC comes standard with blind-spot monitoring, active parking assistance, automatic high beams, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and active braking assistance.
  • Starting price: To hop into a brand-new 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 model in Canada, it’ll cost $59,500 CAD.

If you're buying used today, the 2022 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
