Is the Lexus RX a good car?
Yes — the Lexus RX is a strong used luxury SUV choice if you value comfort, refinement, and long-term appeal. The all-generations owner rating is 4.66/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners consistently praise the RX for its comfortable ride, quiet cabin, and upscale interior feel. Across the model years, the RX also earns repeat praise for reliability and a polished driving experience that suits daily commuting and highway use.

What should I look for when buying a used Lexus RX?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, with adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a rear passenger safe-exit system, and parking proximity sensors.
- Infotainment: a 9.8-inch touchscreen in lower-priced configurations or a 14-inch display in higher-end models, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: the RX 350h is estimated at 6.5 L/100 km combined, the RX 500h at 8.6 L/100 km combined, and the RX 450h+ at 2.8 litres-equivalent per 100 kilometres combined with 60 kilometres of electric-only range.
Which Lexus RX trim should I buy?
The 2024 Lexus RX offers these trims:
- RX 350: The entry model uses a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and standard AWD. It suits you if you want the most accessible way into the RX lineup.
- RX 350h: This hybrid adds a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, 246 hp, and 233 lb-ft of torque, with a CVT and 6.5 L/100 km combined fuel economy. It stands out as the best-value trim for many buyers who want efficiency and everyday comfort.
- RX 500h F Sport Performance: This performance-focused trim combines a turbo 2.4-litre inline-four with hybrid power for 366 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, plus a six-speed automatic transmission. It suits you if you want the strongest acceleration in the lineup.

Should I buy a used Lexus RX now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −12.08% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −11.35%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 31.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 30.9%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $49,926 CAD. The Lexus RX offers a calm, refined cabin that makes it easy to live with every day.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The 2024 Lexus RX is offered in four distinct models, starting with the base RX 350. It's powered by a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. In Canada—where the RX is built at Toyota’s Cambridge, Ontario, assembly plant—all-wheel drive (AWD) is standard on all models. The RX 450h+ takes the RX 350h's powertrain and adds a much larger 18.1-kWh battery pack, with 304 hp and up to 60 kilometres on electric power with a full charge.
- Tech: The new infotainment system is much more conventional, with a touchscreen that measures 9.8 inches in lower-priced configurations and a much larger 14-inch display for higher-end models. The system also accepts natural speech commands, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both included.
- Safety: All RX models come standard with the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 suite of advanced safety and driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a rear passenger safe-exit system, and parking proximity sensors.
- Starting price: Pricing for the 2024 Lexus RX start at $63,190 CAD for the base RX 350.
If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Reviewed a 2024 Lexus RX on Aug 9, 2024
Was not expecting to buy this car. Had pretty well made up my mind on another brand in the same class .Had bought that brand before. A test drive of the RX done out of curiosity before finalizing the other purchase ,coupled with a detailed comparison unexpectedly changed my mind and I never went back to the other brand. Love this car. The style, the performance ,the price and the safety features does it all for me.

overall
The Lexus RX stands out for its luxury, comfort, and fuel efficiency.
The Lexus RX crossover SUV sticks to its core strengths by delivering an abundance of comfort and luxury while returning impressive fuel economy figures. While it may not be as exciting to drive as its rivals and its styling leaves some puzzled, it's a solid pick for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
