For used buyers, that points to a model with strong long-term ownership appeal, especially if you prioritise design, drivability, and overall satisfaction.
What should I look for when buying a used Toyota C-HR?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 on the 2026 C-HR, with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and lane keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, road sign recognition, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist.
- Infotainment: A 14-inch touchscreen with the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Toyota’s “Hey Toyota” voice assistant, and cloud-based navigation with Google POI data.
Which Toyota C-HR trim should I buy?
The 2026 Toyota C-HR offers these trims:
- SE: The value-focused trim brings the standard 14-inch touchscreen, fully digital driver information display, Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, 18-inch black alloy wheels, and the core EV hardware; it’s the best-value choice if you want the essentials and strong pricing.
- XSE: This trim adds the surround-view monitor camera system, driver attention monitor, front cross-traffic alert, traffic jam assist, lane-change assist, ambient lighting in 64 colours, and available two-tone paint, making it the better fit if you want the most advanced convenience and safety tech.
- XSE Premium package: This package adds 20-inch gunmetal multi-spoke wheels, a panoramic glass roof, and the nine-speaker JBL premium audio system with an 800-watt amplifier and subwoofer, giving the C-HR a more upscale feel.
What Toyota C-HR do most buyers choose?
The Toyota C-HR years with the most listings are 2020, 2019, and 2021.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 126 | 31.7% |
| 2019 | 116 | 37.9% |
| 2021 | 115 | 29.6% |
| 2018 | 86 | 37.2% |
| 2022 | 85 | 25.9% |
| 2027 | 1 | 0% |
Higher-volume years tend to draw more shoppers because they usually offer a wider selection of prices, trims, and condition levels. That makes it easier to compare listings and find a version that fits your budget and feature priorities.
What is the Toyota C-HR's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2019 | $19,639 CAD | −12.44% |
| 2021 | $23,332 CAD | −10.87% |

| 2018 | $18,643 CAD | −8.19% |
| 2022 | $24,766 CAD | −6.91% |
Prices are moving lower across every model year shown, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want more room to negotiate. The biggest drops are in the older and mid-cycle years, while the newest year in the table has declined the least. The 2022, 2018, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The latest Toyota C-HR offers both single-motor front-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive, with 221 horsepower, 338 hp, and a 0-96 km/h time of 4.9 seconds.
- Tech: The latest Toyota C-HR adds a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Toyota’s “Hey Toyota” voice assistant, and cloud-based navigation with Google POI data.
- Safety: The latest Toyota C-HR adds a surround-view monitor camera system, a driver attention monitor, front cross-traffic alert, traffic jam assist, and lane-change assist.
- Starting price: The Toyota C-HR SE starts at $48,015 CAD.
If you're buying used today, the 2020 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Great car! Just the right size as a small SUV. Sits higher and the backs seat has more room than I expected. Love the sleek, sporty design. Lots of technology features. The only thing I would have added is heated seats.

Nice Car! I really liked the car but I found out in research that all model years have transmission issues.

Exceptional value! I love all the safety features and the very smooth ride. The MPG is great. Its a crossover but it is very spacious and has tons of storage space! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a crossover. The only thing I wish it had is Apple CarPlay, but I believe that only started to come standard in 2019.
