27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are RAM 3500 models reliable?
Owners and experts consistently point to the RAM 3500's strong towing ability, durable heavy-duty hardware, and comfortable cabin as major strengths. The truck's reputation is also supported by owner feedback that often highlights dependable performance for demanding work.
- Owners rate the RAM 3500 between 4.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is most closely tied to maintenance history and how the truck was used, especially on higher-mileage diesel examples.
What RAM 3500 do most buyers choose?
The RAM 3500 years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 451 | 31.3% |
| 2024 | 373 | 32.7% |
| 2025 | 343 | 32.1% |
| 2022 | 268 | 27.6% |
| 2021 | 210 | 24.8% |
| 2020 | 140 | 27.1% |
These higher-volume model years tend to attract more shoppers because they offer a newer feature set, broader availability, and more choice across trims and configurations. That combination usually makes it easier to find the right truck at the right price.
What is the RAM 3500's resale value?

The 2015, 2020, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Should I buy a used RAM 3500 now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −10.4% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −15.86%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 32.1% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 32.7%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $68,743 CAD.
If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the newest version, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Love my new truck! It has space for the whole family. Works as hard as a man with two child support payments to two different baby mommas! And rides a lot better than I would have expected it would.

Why it stands out
The 2024 RAM 3500 stands out as a heavy-duty truck that blends serious capability with the kind of technology and comfort buyers now expect in a daily driver. Its competitive edge is the powerful Cummins turbo diesel engine, and the truck’s towing and payload figures are a major part of its appeal: it can tow more than 15,875 kilograms and carry almost 3,600 kilograms of payload. Ram also gives it a more upscale feel than a bare-bones work truck, with a strong focus on luxury and tech, plus available features such as a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, a 12-inch vertical infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 750-watt Harman Kardon 17-speaker audio system.
For 2024, there were no significant changes or upgrades, so the truck carries forward the refreshed, well-equipped formula already established in this generation. That means buyers looking at the 2024 RAM 3500 are getting a truck that is already loaded with capability and convenience, rather than one defined by a major update year. It is still a very large vehicle, though, and its gargantuan proportions can be difficult to manage in towns and cities. The diesel engine is also noted as noisy, and safety technology is described as limited, so its strengths are most compelling for shoppers who prioritise towing, payload, and heavy-duty utility over compact manoeuvrability or a quieter, more car-like experience.
