Is the Porsche 911 a good car?
Yes — the Porsche 911 is a standout choice if you want a sports car that blends performance, everyday usability, and iconic design.
The all-generations owner rating is 4.71/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners consistently praise the 911 for its thrilling performance, sharp handling, and distinctive styling. They also appreciate the premium interior feel and the way it balances excitement with daily drivability. Across the model range, the car’s character and driving experience come through as the main reasons shoppers keep coming back to it.
Expert reviews rate the 2025 and 2020 models among the highest across all years.
The main trade-offs are high ownership costs, limited passenger and cargo space, and some tech and convenience details that can feel less polished than the rest of the car’s experience.
28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are Porsche 911 models reliable?
Owners consistently praise the Porsche 911 for its performance, handling, and overall driving experience, and the expert coverage reinforces its strong engineering and polished road manners. The model’s long-running reputation also comes through in the way owners describe it as rewarding to live with over time.
- Owners rate the Porsche 911 between 4.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is most closely tied to premium-car running costs and the care a previous owner gave the car.
What should I look for when buying a used Porsche 911?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adaptive dampers, traffic sign recognition, pedestrian protection, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system with active parking assistance, and lane-change assist.
- Infotainment: Porsche Communication Management (PCM) with a 10.9-inch infotainment screen and wireless Apple CarPlay.
Which Porsche 911 trim should I buy?
The 2025 Porsche 911 offers these trims:
- Carrera: The entry point brings the 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six, eight-speed PDK, rear-wheel drive, and a strong mix of performance, ride quality, handling, and braking; it is the best-value choice for most shoppers.
- Carrera T: This version adds the manual transmission and suits buyers who want a more involved driving experience.
- Carrera GTS T-Hybrid: This trim adds a 3.6-litre flat-six, larger turbochargers, and a plug-in hybrid system for more power and torque.
- Carrera 4 GTS: This version adds all-wheel drive for buyers who want that traction with the GTS hardware.
- Targa GTS: This trim adds the Targa roof to the GTS formula for buyers who want open-air style with the same performance focus.
What Porsche 911 do most buyers choose?
The Porsche 911 years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.
Higher-listing model years tend to be the easiest to shop because you get more choice in trims, colours, and price points. They also usually give you a better chance of finding a well-kept example that matches your budget and feature priorities.
What is the Porsche 911's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | $168,164 CAD | −20.52% |
| 2019 | $183,625 CAD | −19.56% |
| 2024 | $266,571 CAD | −11.01% |
| 2022 | $236,096 CAD | −5.41% |
| 2025 | $274,425 CAD | −4.76% |
| 2023 | $263,023 CAD | −2.98% |
| 2020 | $151,880 CAD | +2.75% |
| 2021 | $229,297 CAD | +3.78% |
| 2017 | $150,309 CAD | +8.44% |
Most model years in this set are moving lower year over year, which is helpful if you are shopping used and want more room to negotiate. A few years are moving higher instead, showing that some versions continue to command strong demand. The biggest drops are especially meaningful for buyers because they create more attractive entry points into the lineup.
The 2017, 2021, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.
Is the Porsche 911 safe?

Should I buy a used Porsche 911 now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:

Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The latest model pairs a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six with 389 horsepower, 332 pound-feet of torque, and an eight-speed PDK, while returning 11.3 L/100 km combined.
- Tech: The latest model adds a fully digital 12.6-inch instrument cluster and wireless Apple CarPlay through Porsche Communication Management.
- Safety: The latest model adds adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera system with active parking assistance, and lane-change assist through the Premium Package.
- Starting price: The latest model starts at $135,600 CAD.

This 911 Turbo S was painted in Aventurine which is one of the rarest Porsche colors, and it was paired with a sumptuous truffle leather interior. The only option missing was the front end lift. There is no comparison to the 911 Turbo S.

Why it stands out
The 2025 Porsche 911 shows why this sports car formula still works so well. It marks the beginning of the refreshed 992.2 generation, with subtle changes to the face, interior, and power output, while still keeping the familiar rear-engine shape. That combination of heritage and refinement is a big part of its appeal: it remains recognisably a 911, but with updates that keep it feeling current.
What stands out most is how well it balances performance and everyday usability. The 2025 model is praised for excellent overall performance, a comfortable and simplistic interior, and solid daily livability, which makes it more versatile than many sports cars. It is also described as having thrilling performance, excellent ride quality, great usability, and handsome looks. On the downside, buyers should note wind buffeting on the highway, slightly confusing tech, and the absence of a manual transmission for the base model.
