The main trade-offs that show up in expert feedback are sluggish power delivery, mediocre efficiency, and, on the Rock Creek trim, a setup that leans more toward style than substance.

Are Nissan Pathfinder models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently point to the Pathfinder’s spacious interior, comfortable seating, and strong everyday versatility. Across the model years in the data, it also earns praise for family-friendly practicality and a confident, useful character.

• Owners rate the Nissan Pathfinder between 3.88 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is most worth watching on earlier model years, so a careful test drive and maintenance review matter.

What should I look for when buying a used Nissan Pathfinder?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy reaches a Natural Resources Canada-estimated 11.8 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 9.6 highway, and 10.8 combined for Platinum models. The Rock Creek is estimated at 12 L/100 km city, 10.2 highway, and 11.2 combined.

Which Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2026 Nissan Pathfinder offers these trims:

• Rock Creek: This trim adds Toyo Open Country A/T III tyres and a more rugged look, and it suits you if you want the Pathfinder’s off-road-inspired styling and hardware.
• Platinum: This trim adds semi-aniline leather with diamond stitching, a head-up display, and a 13-speaker Bose audio system, making it the best-value choice if you want the most upscale Pathfinder experience.

What Nissan Pathfinder do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Pathfinder years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular because they give you more inventory to compare and a broader spread of prices and trims. That usually makes it easier to find a Pathfinder that fits your budget and feature wish list.

What is the Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

Most Pathfinder model years are down by double digits year over year, which creates better opportunities for used buyers. The newer model years are also falling, though by smaller amounts than some older ones, so recent inventory can still offer meaningful value. The overall pattern favours shoppers who want a three-row SUV with room to negotiate.

The 2014, 2023, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Nissan Pathfinder safe?

• 2026: 8/10
• 2025: 9/10
• 2023: 9/10
• 2022: 9/10

Standard driver aids include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, lane-departure warning, and active assists for the lane keeping and blind spot systems.

For the safest used buy, the 2022, 2023 and 2025 models all post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Nissan Pathfinder now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −10.31% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −11.77%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 32.2% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 31.2%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $38,392 CAD. The Nissan Pathfinder offers a roomy cabin and a practical three-row layout that make it especially appealing for family use.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 continues with 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque (or 295 hp and 270 lb-ft in the Rock Creek with premium fuel) and all-wheel drive (AWD) is standard.
• Tech: Every Pathfinder gets Nissan's latest infotainment software on a wider 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Invisible Hood View is newly standard in Canada.
• Safety: Standard driver aids include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, rear emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, lane-departure warning, and active assists for the lane keeping and blind spot systems.
• Starting price: In Canada, the 2026 Nissan Pathfinder starts at $58,197 CAD for the Rock Creek trim.

If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
