How much does the Nissan Altima cost in today's market?

The Nissan Altima's current nationwide average price is $16,759 CAD, and its lowest point over the past year was $16,213 CAD. Recently, prices have come down for the 2022, 2023, and 2024 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the Nissan Altima is a strong used-car pick if you want a comfortable, value-focused midsize sedan with broad appeal. The all-generations owner rating is 4.5/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Altima for its comfortable ride, fuel economy, and easy-to-live-with cabin. Many also highlight its practical everyday character, with strong value for the money and a smooth, relaxed driving experience.

Expert reviews rate the 2022 and 2020 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs across recent expert-tested years are fairly pedestrian performance, interior materials that feel cheap, and technology that can seem dated in lower trims. Even so, the Altima remains attractive if you want a sedan that delivers comfort, efficiency, and a lot of equipment for the price.

What should I look for when buying a used Nissan Altima?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360
• Infotainment: an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; SR Premium and Platinum add a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: The Altima AWD should burn 8.2 litres per 100 kilometres in S trim and 8.4 L/100 km in other trims in combined driving.

Which Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2025 Nissan Altima offers these trims:

• S: The entry trim gets the standard 8-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, and Nissan Safety Shield 360; it suits you if you want the most affordable way into the lineup.
• SR: This trim adds 19-inch wheels, sport-bolstered front seats, and a wireless charging pad, making it the best-value choice if you want a sportier look and a few extra conveniences.

What Nissan Altima do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Altima years with the most listings are 2024, 2016, and 2023.

Higher-volume years tend to draw more shoppers because they usually offer a wider selection of trims, colours, and price points. They also give you a better chance of finding a well-priced example that matches your budget and equipment needs.

What is the Nissan Altima's resale value?

Most Altima model years in the table are down year over year, and several have posted double-digit declines. That pattern can work in your favour if you are shopping used, since it opens up more value on recent and older examples alike. A small number of years are holding steadier, with one even showing a slight increase.

The 2018, 2017, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Nissan Altima now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2024 model is at −14.18% versus a year ago, and the 2023 model is at −13.26%.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Nissan equips every 2025 Altima sold in Canada with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and standard AWD, generating 182 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque, and the Altima AWD should burn 8.2 litres per 100 kilometres in S trim and 8.4 L/100 km in other trims in combined driving.
• Tech: The standard setup has an 8-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo, while the Altima SR Premium and Platinum get a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, NissanConnect services, and a navigation system.

• Starting price: At its base price, the 2025 Altima is the most affordable midsize car on the rapidly dwindling market.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
