What should I look for when buying a used Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Mercedes-Benz Pre-Safe, plus forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition.
• Infotainment: Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus dual 12.3-inch displays.

Which Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class offers these trims:

• G 550: The G 550 brings a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six, mild-hybrid assistance, permanent 4WD with locking differentials, and the core G-Class character in its most accessible form. It suits you if you want the classic G-Class experience with strong performance and the best-value positioning in the lineup.
• AMG G 63: The AMG G 63 adds a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, more power, AMG Active Ride Control suspension, and a more performance-focused setup. It suits you if you want the most powerful and most dynamic G-Class, with extra capability for faster rough-road driving and a more special feel overall.

What Mercedes-Benz G-Class do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class years with the most listings are 2022, 2021, and 2020.

Those model years tend to draw the most shoppers because they offer a strong mix of availability, familiar modern G-Class design, and pricing that sits below the newest examples. Higher listing counts also give you more room to compare condition, equipment, and deal quality.

What is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

Most model years in the table are moving lower year over year, which creates better opportunities for used buyers. A couple of years are still rising, and one is essentially flat, so the market is not moving in a single direction across the lineup. The biggest drops are concentrated in the older and recent-model years, while the newest model remains firmly at the top of the price range.

The 2019 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2025, 2018, and 2019 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

• 2025: 7/10
• 2020: 7/10

The 2025 G-Class adds route-based speed adaptation for adaptive cruise control, automated lane centring, and an emergency-stop feature.
