Customers say
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class impresses with its luxurious design, powerful performance, and off-road capabilities across all model years. Owners love its rugged build quality, iconic style, and the blend of luxury with functionality. However, many highlight drawbacks like high maintenance costs, limited rear seating, and steep pricing, which might deter some buyers. Despite these concerns, the overall reception remains overwhelmingly positive as drivers appreciate its ability to retain value and provide a unique driving experience.

top of the line suv with power, sophistication and smart features. the dynamic of creating a vehicle that is strong, sturdy and can be utilized for a casual drive as well as offroading is attractive to me. the vehicle is a higher level suv and the only downfall i see is the price but these vehicles will run many miles if properly serviced .

Why it stands out
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it keeps the unmistakable military-grade look that made the nameplate famous, while underneath it is a completely new design with modern systems and more in common with other Mercedes-Benz models. It is slightly larger than the original but lighter model for model, and it has a much plusher interior. Mercedes also added electric power steering, many driver-assist and safety features developed for other models like the S-Class, and the latest MBUX infotainment system on a flat-panel dash with two 12.3-inch displays. For buyers, that combination of old-school presence and modern luxury is a big part of the appeal.
Performance is another major draw. The G 550 uses a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 with 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG G 63 uses a handcrafted twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 with 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Even with that capability, fuel economy is poor: the G 550 is rated at 17.9 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 14.4 on the highway, and 16.3 combined, while the G 63 returns 19.5 city, 15.5 highway, and 17.7 combined. That makes the G-Class a vehicle bought more for character, luxury, and ability than for efficiency.
It is also worth noting that the 2021 G-Class is expensive to own and maintain, and rear seating space is limited. Still, owners are drawn to its visibility, design, and strong performance, and the model’s limited production and high-end image only add to its exclusivity.
