What should I look for when buying a used Mazda CX-50?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid returns fuel economy of 6.2 litres per 100 kilometres in combined city and highway driving, compared with the standard engine's 8.9 L/100 km combined and the turbo’s 9.4 L/100 km combined.
• Infotainment: The 10.25-inch horizontal infotainment system uses a centre-console dial controller, with touchscreen functionality that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Safety package: All CX-50 models come with frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Which Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 offers these trims:

• GS-L: The base hybrid trim brings the 2.5-litre hybrid powertrain, all-wheel drive, and the core CX-50 design and cabin experience. It suits you if you want the hybrid’s efficiency and the model’s upscale feel at the entry point.
• GT: This trim adds the 12-speaker Bose premium audio system and red leather upholstery exclusive to the hybrid model, making it the best-value choice if you want the most polished cabin experience.

What Mazda CX-50 do most buyers choose?

The Mazda CX-50 years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.

Higher-volume model years usually give you more choice on trim, colour, and mileage, which makes it easier to compare examples and find one that fits your budget. They also tend to be the first places to look when you want a balance of availability and value.

What is the Mazda CX-50's resale value?

Prices are moving down across the model range, which is good news if you are shopping used. The double-digit drops on the newer years point to meaningful savings compared with a year ago, while the older model year has also softened. That creates a wider spread of price points for shoppers who want to match features and budget carefully.

The 2023, 2024, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Mazda CX-50 safe?

• 2025: 7/10
• 2024: 8/10
• 2023: 9/10

All CX-50 models come with driver assistance features including frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

For the safest used buy, the 2023 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Mazda CX-50 now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The new CX-50 Hybrid SUV debuts a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that pairs with three electric motors, delivering 219 horsepower, 163 lb-ft of torque, and all-wheel drive (AWD), and Natural Resources Canada estimates 6.2 litres per 100 kilometres in combined city and highway driving.
