- Owners rate the Lincoln Navigator between 4.75 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is shaped more by age, mileage, and upkeep than by the model's core appeal, so a well-maintained example is the safest path.
What should I look for when buying a used Lincoln Navigator?
Key things to evaluate:
- Fuel efficiency: Lincoln continues to use a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine in the 2025 Navigator. It makes 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, bolts to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and has a towing capacity of up to 3,950 kilograms (8,700 pounds) with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package and 22-inch wheels. Four-wheel drive (4WD) is standard on the Navigator, which boasts 22.6 centimetres of ground clearance. Our first drive was on a route that dropped about 1,200 metres (4,000 feet) in elevation and was mostly highway driving. That gave us an observed fuel economy of 13.9 litres per 100 kilometres, not far off the official Natural Resources Canada rating of 13.5 L/100 km in combined driving.
- Infotainment: For 2025, the Navigator adds the company’s Lincoln Digital Experience infotainment system with a 48-inch panoramic display and an 11.1-inch centre touchscreen control centre.
- Safety package: BlueCruise is also standard and comes with a complimentary four-year subscription.
Which Lincoln Navigator trim should I buy?
The 2025 Lincoln Navigator offers these trims:
- Navigator Reserve: This is the base version and the best-value starting point, with the new minimalist cabin design, the 48-inch panoramic display, the 11.1-inch touchscreen, and the core luxury and tech experience that define the model.
- Navigator Black Label: This top trim adds the Black Label treatment, including the blacked-out Special Edition Package, exclusive interior themes, and the most upscale presentation in the lineup.
- Navigator L: This longer version adds more cargo room behind all three rows, making it the right choice if you want maximum passenger-and-luggage flexibility.
What Lincoln Navigator do most buyers choose?
The Lincoln Navigator years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2022.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 65 | 33.8% |
| 2024 | 58 | 31% |
| 2022 | 57 | 28.1% |
| 2021 | 55 | 29.1% |
| 2025 | 46 | 30.4% |
| 2020 | 45 | 31.1% |
These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right colour, trim, and price. They also sit close enough to the newest generation to deliver the modern Navigator experience while still offering more used-market value than the latest model year.
What is the Lincoln Navigator's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | $37,387 CAD | −18.46% |
| 2024 | $81,646 CAD | −17.36% |
| 2023 | $70,739 CAD | −16.6% |
| 2022 | $61,171 CAD | −15.6% |
| 2021 | $52,949 CAD | −12.11% |
| 2019 | $41,546 CAD | −11.81% |
| 2020 | $48,049 CAD | −11.28% |
The table shows broad downward movement across every model year listed, which is good news if you're shopping used. The larger drops on newer examples can create especially appealing value on recent model years, while older examples still show meaningful price movement. Overall, the pattern favours buyers who want luxury-SUV size and equipment without paying new-vehicle pricing.
The 2020, 2019, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Is the Lincoln Navigator safe?
- 2025: 10/10
- 2023: 8/10
- 2022: 8/10
- 2021: 8/10
- 2020: 9/10
BlueCruise is also standard and comes with a complimentary four-year subscription.
For the safest used buy, the 2025 model posts the highest confirmed score of 10/10.
Should I buy a used Lincoln Navigator now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2024 model is at −17.36% versus a year ago, and the 2023 model is at −16.6%.
- Deal availability: The 2024 model has 31% good and great deals, and the 2023 model has 33.8%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $70,739 CAD. The Lincoln Navigator offers a spacious, upscale cabin with strong long-distance comfort and a commanding road presence.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: Lincoln continues to use a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine in the 2025 Navigator. It makes 440 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, bolts to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and has a towing capacity of up to 3,950 kilograms (8,700 pounds) with the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package and 22-inch wheels.
- Tech: For 2025, the Navigator adds the company’s Lincoln Digital Experience infotainment system with a 48-inch panoramic display and an 11.1-inch centre touchscreen control centre.
- Safety: BlueCruise is also standard and comes with a complimentary four-year subscription. It provides hands-free driving on approved roads, taking full control of the SUV as long as the driver continues paying attention and is ready to assume command of the Navigator at any time.
- Starting price: With a Canadian base price of nearly $130,000 CAD (including the destination charge and other fees), the 2025 Lincoln Navigator is more expensive to start than the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, Land Rover Defender 130, and Mercedes-Benz GLS.
If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Great vehicle for what you pay for. Powertrain wise this is the same thing as the expedition minus tuning. Interior and exterior are the glamorized update for those who care for the luxury. I myself have a family of 5. Wife + 3 under two. We were looking for something we can grow with while riding with performance and luxury. I originally dead set on a Grand Wagoneer however. The features on it are great but not practical for kids in the back as the hvac ventilation is atrocious and it feels very “plastic”. Then was the Cadillac Escalade which we adored however they don’t have any bottom anchors in the rear seats. In fact all of the GM lineup from the suburban to the Denali doesn’t have bottom anchors in the 3rd row. Also in the Lincoln the second row seats can lean forward allowing easier access in the rear without removing the car seat which none of the other full size SUV’s can offer. Just for these two features alone we are choosing it over the other two. —— Cadillac I feel has better quality interior material and feel. Also the l86 + 10 speed is an amazing power platform. Wagoneer has better tech features, lacks in many other areas and the new I6 hasn’t been ran enough to find its shortcomings. Lincoln has more creature comfort and a mix between the two. 3.5 ecoboost platform is tried and tested, excellent platform with growing aftermarket support. The 22+ get the facelift, newer tech and motor refresh. Again another reason why we’re choosing the Lincoln.

Insane power under the hood. Extreme luxury. Beautiful inside and out. Letting the vehicle drive itself while giving me a massage imakes for unforgettable travel experiences. It doesn't feel as large and it truly is. So far the best of my three Lincoln vehicles.
