While my 2012 is a Sport, it is in the same category. Let me start with, it is one of the best vehicles I have owned. And I have owned a few. Mercedes, Cadilac, Nissan etc. The 2012 I purchased used, with 35K and now at 178k. This vehicle has NEVER left me stranded, nor has it cost me my retirement to maintain. When you see the bad reports, it is likely because those owners only understood two things, a gas and brake pedal, and drove their vehicles until lights came on. When a RR is maintained, it will last longer than any of its competitors. So this car has be been a great value and enjoyable driving experince.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Land Rover Range Rover Sport stands out for blending genuine off-road ability with a more performance-focused character than many luxury SUVs can manage. Land Rover’s four-wheel-drive expertise gives it unusual credibility in harsh terrain and climates, while the model’s high-end cabin and sports car level performance help it feel special on the road. It is also positioned as a premium, expensive SUV, which reinforces its upscale appeal even as its reliability, service costs, and fuel consumption make it a difficult used buy to recommend without caution.
For 2019, the Range Rover Sport moved to a turbocharged inline-six, including a version with a mild hybrid setup that powered an additional supercharger. Power and torque were 355 hp and 365 lb-ft on P360 trims and 395 hp and 406 lb-ft on P400 trims, while the supercharged V8 engines were unchanged. Some 2019 models still had the supercharged V6, as Land Rover did not immediately make the switch to the hybrid inline-sixes. That mix of powertrains gives the 2019 model year a broad performance range, but it also sits within a generation that is still known for expensive ownership and poor fuel economy.
The second generation also brought meaningful improvements in handling and space, thanks to its switch from a steel body-on-frame chassis to an aluminium unibody. It shed a lot of weight, rode smoother, drove faster, and became roomier for passengers and cargo, with a nearly 18-centimetre stretch in wheelbase and a 6.3-centimetre increase in total length. Buyers also got an optional third row sold as a “5+2” seating arrangement, though it was only large enough to serve as a jump seat for children. Even so, the 2019 Range Rover Sport remains a vehicle best suited to shoppers who value its mix of luxury, capability, and strong engines enough to accept its running costs and reliability concerns.
