Which Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

What Kia Sorento do most buyers choose?

The Kia Sorento years with the most listings are 2020, 2019, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they combine broad availability with pricing that still sits within reach for many used-SUV shoppers. They also line up with model years that offer a strong mix of space, features, and value.

What is the Kia Sorento's resale value?

Most Sorento model years are down by double digits year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used. The newer models are also falling, but at a somewhat smaller pace than many older years, so recent inventory can still offer meaningful value. The overall pattern favours used buyers looking for a well-equipped SUV at a lower entry price than before.

The 2024, 2017, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Kia Sorento safe?

• 2025: 8/10
• 2024: 9/10
• 2022: 9/10

Kia installs plenty of standard safety features in the 2025 Sorento. Highway Driving Assist is standard on X-Line, and X-Line Limited and X-Pro add Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-changing functionality.

For the safest used buy, the 2022 and 2024 models both post the highest confirmed score of 9/10.

Should I buy a used Kia Sorento now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −13.62% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −10.82%.
• Deal availability: The 2024 model has 33.1% good and great deals.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2020 model has the most listings at a current average price of $17,668 CAD. The Kia Sorento offers a practical, family-friendly cabin with useful space and a well-rounded everyday character.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Kia equips the Sorento LX with an underwhelming 191-horsepower, 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder generates 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.
• Tech: The Sorento’s 24-inch panoramic display pairs with a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
• Safety: Significant upgrades are associated with the X-Line Limited and X-Pro, which add numerous active collision avoidance features, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system.
• Starting price: The base Sorento LX starts at less than $40,000.

If you're buying used today, the 2020 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
