What should I look for when buying a used Kia Forte?

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: According to Natural Resources Canada, a Kia Forte with the base 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine can be expected to consume 8.2 litres per 100 kilometres in city driving, 6.0 on the highway, and 7.2 combined. Opt for the GT Limited and its turbo 1.6-litre engine, and those fuel economy figures rise to 8.7 L/100 km city, 6.6 hwy, and 7.8 combined.
• Infotainment: Supporting Forte trims come standard with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen while the GT-Line and GT Limited receive a 10.25-inch display with onboard navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included with all models.

Which Kia Forte trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Forte offers these trims:

• LX: The entry trim gives you the Forte’s value-focused starting point, and it suits shoppers who want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds the core driver-assistance suite, 16-inch alloy wheels, and the equipment that makes the Forte feel more complete.
• EX Premium: This trim adds advanced forward collision assist warning, adaptive cruise control, and Kia Connect connected services.
• GT-Line: This trim adds the 10.25-inch display with onboard navigation and Kia’s Highway Driving Assist system.
• GT Limited: This trim adds the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, premium eight-speaker Harman Kardon audio, LED fog lights, bold red accents, and 18-inch sport alloy wheels for shoppers who want the most performance and equipment.
• GT: This trim sits at the top of the range with a starting price of $31,095 and suits buyers who want the most upscale Forte experience.

What Kia Forte do most buyers choose?

The Kia Forte years with the most listings are 2022, 2023, and 2024.

These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular because they give you more inventory to compare and more chances to find the right trim, mileage, and price combination. They also tend to attract shoppers looking for newer features while still staying within a used-car budget.

What is the Kia Forte's resale value?

Most Kia Forte model years are showing double-digit year-over-year price declines, which is helpful if you’re shopping used and want stronger value. The newer model years are also moving lower, so recent examples can be especially appealing if you want updated features without paying new-car pricing. A few older years are changing less sharply, which suggests steadier pricing on the most affordable examples.

The 2017, 2015, and 2023 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Kia Forte safe?

• 2023: 5/10
• 2022: 7/10

For the 2023 model, Kia’s Highway Driving Assist system is equipped on the GT-Line and GT Limited.

For the safest used buy, the 2022 model posts the highest confirmed score of 7/10.
