What should I look for when buying a used GMC Terrain?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: GMC Pro Safety Package; GMC Pro Safety Plus Package on SLE, SLT, and AT4, and standard on Denali.
• Infotainment: 7-inch touchscreen on SLE, or high-definition 8-inch touchscreen on SLT, AT4, and Denali, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Which GMC Terrain trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Terrain offers these trims:

• SLE: The most affordable trim in the expert review, with front-wheel drive and the core Terrain experience; a sensible starting point if you want the model’s comfort and technology at the lowest entry point.
• SLT: Adds a layer of luxury and comes with standard front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available; this is the best-value trim if you want a more upscale feel without moving to the top end.
• AT4: Adds a bolder grille, black 17-inch alloy wheels with sport-terrain tyres, AT4 badging, a steel front skid plate, standard all-wheel drive, Off-Road mode, and Hill Descent Control.
• Denali: Adds a layer of luxury and comes standard with the GMC Pro Safety Plus Package.

What GMC Terrain do most buyers choose?

The GMC Terrain years with the most listings are 2023, 2025, and 2024.

These higher-volume model years tend to be popular because they give you a wider selection of trims, prices, and equipment levels to compare. They also tend to sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more accessible used pricing.

What is the GMC Terrain's resale value?

Most Terrain model years are down year over year, which is good news if you are shopping used and want more value for your money. The declines are especially pronounced on several newer and mid-cycle years, while a few older examples have softened by smaller amounts. That pattern gives you room to compare model years carefully and target the ones with the best pricing momentum.

The 2016, 2025, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the GMC Terrain safe?

• 2022: 7/10

The 2022 Terrain includes the GMC Pro Safety Package as standard equipment, with forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator.

For the safest used buy, the 2022 model posts the highest confirmed score of 7/10.
