Overall, the Ford Mustang consistently impresses drivers with its powerful performance, fun driving experience, and iconic styling throughout the years. Owners frequently praise the exhilarating acceleration, handling, and variety of engine options. The thrilling sound of the V8 engines adds to the driving enjoyment. However, some drivers express concerns about limited backseat space and fuel economy, as well as occasional issues with reliability and build quality in older models. Despite these drawbacks, the Mustang is often celebrated as a beloved classic that offers both excitement and nostalgia.

I put 16000 miles on a new 2020 Mustang. Absolutely no issues. It also got great gas mileage. I averaged 29.6 mpg for the whole time I owned the car. I had the manual which was a little stiff when I first got it but worked in great.

Why it stands out
The 2025 Ford Mustang stands out because it keeps the classic Mustang formula intact while offering a wide spread of powertrains and body styles. It remains a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive car sold as a coupe or convertible, and it is assembled at Ford’s Flat Rock production facility in Michigan. For buyers who want a mainstream version, Ford’s EcoBoost turbocharged 2.3-litre inline four-cylinder engine is available, while upper trims can be had with 5.0-litre V8 power. A 10-speed automatic transmission is the most common, though some trims are available with six-speed manuals.
What makes the 2025 model especially appealing is the breadth of choice. At launch, the seventh-generation Mustang was available in Canada in five trim levels: EcoBoost, EcoBoost Premium, Ford Mustang GT, GT Premium, and Mustang Dark Horse. A Dark Horse Premium trim was added for 2025. That variety helps the Mustang cover a lot of ground, from more accessible daily driving to more serious performance. It also carries a strong enthusiast identity, which has long been part of the Mustang’s appeal.
There are a few drawbacks to keep in mind. The 2024 and 2025 Ford Mustangs have been reported to suffer from powertrain vibrations, inconsistent interior build quality, issues with the limited-slip differential, and problems with the electronic stability control system. The EcoBoost engine may deliver good fuel economy, but it requires premium fuel. Used examples are still limited in Canada, and most listings do not yet show a meaningful discount versus buying new, although EcoBoost convertibles can be found for less than new vehicle prices.
