I absolutely enjoy every aspect of this car. It came exactly like I wanted it to and had features that I was not expecting. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase.

Reviewed a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu on Mar 1, 2026
I purchased a 2020 Chevy Malibu on February 14th, 2024. Since then, the vehicle has been plagued with issues. The check engine light is constantly on, and when a sensor fails, multiple problems seem to arise. For example, the first time the check engine light appeared, the dash dinged and displayed messages like “steering assist reduced, drive with care,” while all the gauges would jump around. It also showed “low fuel,” despite the tank being full, and the message “service ESC.” The root cause was the throttle body, which needed to be replaced. Subsequently, similar issues occurred, and different parts had to be replaced, including the mass airflow sensor, the accelerator pedal, the brake vacuum pump sensor, the brake vacuum pump, and components related to the charging system. At one point, there was a ground issue. Then there is the constant “shift into park” after parking the car. Overall, this car has been nothing but trouble, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

The car has more features than you think for the price. Heated seats, android and apple auto, a turbo. It's not the pinical of luxury, but it definitely gives you enough if you are on a budget.

Why it stands out
The 2022 Chevrolet Malibu stands out as a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan with a long-running reputation for being easy to live with. By this point in its life cycle, it had the benefit of the Malibu’s strongest reliability record among front-wheel-drive versions, and it was also described as a good deal compared with rivals. It offers a comfortable cabin, pleasing styling, and straightforward features, which helps explain why it remained appealing even as Chevrolet debated its future.
For 2022, Chevrolet had already made some active safety features standard, including automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and forward collision warnings. The Malibu also carried over wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and the infotainment setup used a standard eight-inch touchscreen with the Infotainment 3 system. Buyers could still find the Malibu with the 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the slow-selling hybrid and the 2.0-litre turbo had already been dropped earlier in the generation. That leaves the 2022 model as a practical, tech-friendly sedan rather than a performance car, which matches its character well.
Its strengths are clear: a spacious cabin, easy-to-use technology, and a smooth, comfortable driving experience. The trade-off is that it is less refined than some competitors and not especially exciting to drive, and some owners also wished for more powerful engine choices. Even so, for shoppers who want a sensible used sedan with good value and a strong reliability reputation, the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu makes a persuasive case.
